Modern sipping rums have a small amount of sugar added to smooth out the bite. Diplomatico has a bit more sugar than that, but still retains a good bit of flavor. This, Zaya, and RZ23 are the big 3 of entry point runs in my experience, and Diplomatico is the preferred daily drinker of many.
One of my favorite rums from the start, love the aroma as it sits, almost an earthen raspberry aroma, and the taste is not quite as sugary with a little more nutty flavor to me. The sugary aftertaste does hang around a bit long.
El mejor balance de Sabores, realmente lo recomiendo y aún mejor el Mantuano, si tienen la oportunidad, pruébenlo
I’m more on the early beginner side but rum is my favorite spirit to drink and I’ve tried a few different ones to discover the different types.
I was introduced to this rum while I was out with friends for my 40th birthday. My friend ordered me a glass and I had no idea of what I was getting myself into. As soon as I took the first sip I fell in love. Never had I tasted something this smooth on my palate, let alone rum. And the warmth it leaves in the mouth is just right. I immediately grabbed my phone to make a note of the name and made sure to get myself a bottle as soon as I could.
I’m yet to find one to top it but as I said I’m still young in my discovery journey so I’m pretty sure there are some other extraordinary rums out there.
Standar pro mití v baru. Nikoho neurazí. Sám si ho ale nedám :)
Note: where I live, rums tend to be imported from pretty far away, and all of them are therefore typically pretty expensive. This one can be found for about 30 euros, which is relatively cheap compared to other rums in this rating class, so was happy to give it a try. I can see where the liqeur-folks are coming from in the comments, but I had no such qualms with it. Really nice and smooth rum, with very minimal burn, though you have to like your rum a bit sweet. I personally do (though don't quote me on this, as I only get to drink the stuff very occasionally), and so this was no problem for me. Went nicely with a sigar, as well, though for that something a bit drier may be nice. Great for sipping.
This is the one I share with my brother a couple times a year when we finally get a chance to see each other. It's great on the rocks and has never let us down. Not a good mixer, but neither am I. 😁
Not too strong, easy to drink rum. Do not expect anything special but perhaps this is why it is so good - you can drink anytime this gem, won't kick off your feet.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
