Angostura 1824 rum is a blend of rums aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels. The aged rums are blended, re-casked, and upon maturity hand-drawn for bottling.
This rum is named and crafted in honor of Dr. Johann Siegart's founding of Angostura house in the city of Angostura, Venezueala in 1824. Angostura 1824 rum production is now based in Trinidad.

A nice one with a silky smooth aroma. For the cold winter evenings
A great sipping rum with s sophisticated and smooth with mild oakiness and smokey leather notes.
It's a bit darker than I thought it would be, Christmas present that I cracked open last night with my pal Kenny and we were not disappointed, Kenny drank it in two gulps because he had to get home to his Mrs pronto, but he did really like it.
It has a sharper taste than my usual choice of rum, deep oak flavours with a wee kick to it, more than the 1919 that's for sure.
1824 grabs you're attention it is stronger and darker in taste and should be nursed along in order to fully enjoy it's quality (Kenny).
Cards on the table this is a nice rum that is good for a treat, for casual everyday drinking I would prefer the 1919, but I do like this 1824 it's actually tasting better the more I drink think I'll have cheese on toast later.
This rum seems a little harsh but it actually taste very elegant. It has a light refreshing taste and at the same time has an oldish smokey wooded taste.
It is a sipper but is very nice with a touch of Sprite.
Angostura 1824 is a great addition to any rum lover's bar. It has a dark amber color and smooth taste that I don't mind drinking neat or on the rocks.
Every rum to me has a predominant theme, like vanilla, licorice, etc. In this case though it is a mixture of herbs.
The moment you taste it you know there is greatness in this rum. Very smooth and elegant development of taste which stays a long time.
For very special occasions ...
I finally found this rum locally and have been very impressed with it. I have enjoyed the 1919 but this is multiple levels above it
Aromas of oak, butterscotch, and a hint of orange. Spicy caramel flavor, with long, slightly peppery finish. Solid all-around rum, but not my favorite at this particular price point.
Nice drinking rum. One of my favorite angostura rum's
'mouth-watering flavours of honey, fruit, chocolate'
