Not a bad mixer rum for the $26 price point. Vanilla, sweet caramel, and fruity notes on the tongue, with a woody/oaky medium finish. Not as good as the Don Q Gran Anejo Exceptional 9-12yr.
Light and peppery up front with a decently smooth and west finish. Nothing that stands out in front of another but worth a try. I had it neat but I feel that it would add quite a bit of depth to any cocktail.
The nose is strong, with oak, grapefruit and other citrus fruits, pineaple, notes of cocoa, and a hint of tobacco, I really love it. The taste starts with mildly sweet citrus fruits, pineaple, honey, ends with white oak, the aftertaste is oak, with lasting spicy grapefruit and other citruses, with a slightly bitter twist at the end and a little pleasant afterburn. It usually takes me a while to get my taste buds to accustom to this bitter-sweet experience in the aftertaste, but it is a real pleasure. Overall the rum is nicely crafted, reasonably priced, with a lively mix of scent and taste components, giving me much more satisfaction than other - allegedly older - competitors. And please - do not try to compare this with Bacardi, this one is a completely different story.
Take this with a grain of salt, as I am very new to drinking rum neat. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of the barrel first and rum second, and this hit it home for me. I did find it hits all the marks of a Spanish style rum.
I picked this up from Total Wine for $27.99 down in Delaware. I love the new bottle designs that Don Q is rolling out. This a a solid rum for the newcomer just getting into aged rums. Good amber color, great taste and decent finish. This should be a good everyday rum to have in your collection.
There is a slightly heavier body to this than the Don Q Añejo and that make sense because the youngest rum in the blend is 7 yrs old vs the former being 3. It has mild bittersweet flavors that are a hint of butter, brown sugar, and cognac. Very good.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Great Aroma, Fine smooth taste that just goes down too easy. Great neat but as a mixer, sometimes I think it gets lost amongst the other added ingredients in my Favorite rum based cocktails. This is my go to and I have a hard time keeping this in my private stock as it only lasts 4 days sometimes!
