One dimensional on the nose. Some heat on the taste. Taste is ok on its own. I really like this one as a sour.
This was reasonably tasty and semi-complex. It had some bite and burn but it wasn't bad. It smelled more like tequila than rum but the smell wasn't offensive. It was semi-sweet and overall decent but not great. It's the best Don Q product that I have had so far. It's fairly reasonably priced and probably worth a try but don't expect greatness.
Ich fand ihn eigentlich angenehm mild, der Abgang doch zu scharf und zu lang.
Dejlig let rom, bedst til at mixe. Kan dog sippes.
Lacking in complexity, and a bit harsh. Much more drinkable once the ice melted and thinned it out, but that's not winning any prizes. But hey it was free with my welcome drink at the hotel so that's a positive.
Nasty. Glad it was cheap. Keep as a mixer. Definitely not worth it if you're looking for a sipper.
I know that in my last discussion I stated that there would be no more reviews on rums that I have not tried. However, I have known about this replacement for Don Q Anejo for months and finally saw it on the shelf for $21. I just had to bring it home and do a side by side test.
The new bottle is shorter and wider and also comes with a cork instead of a screw cap. This new one comes from a blend of rums aged 7 years each. The Anejo was from a blend of rums ranging in ages of 3 to 8 years. This new one has no aroma, unlike the Anejo. Both taste almost the same, but this new one has a slightly more bitter after taste.
I had been used to paying $15 for the Anejo, so this $6 price increase is simply not worth it to me. I will just go over to the clearance center nearby and scoop up as many of the Anejos for $10 each before they are all gone.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Smooth rum with wood and vanilla tones, but missing complexity or own character. Aftertasre is weak and short with some pepper tones. O.k. for mixing.
