I like this rum a lot, you can tell it's a quality, honest rum which is well put together.
Honey, apricots, there is a a fiesty pepperyness and spice from the white oak ageing.
I'm still making my mind up about the finish, there is a kind of bitterness which is hard to explain and takes a few sips to get used to, it does make it distinctive and memorable though.
It makes an absolutely outstanding aged rum daiquiri. It seems better to sip with a little ice as opposed to neat.
To harsh with little nose. Large rock helped. Many better mixers
Tried neat at first and was not impressed. Little harsh and not much depth or character at all. Put on the rocks and it improved. Light aroma of citrus and wood. harshness absolutely dissipated on the rocks and a bit more flavor seemed to come out. It is one of those rums that just seems to be caught in the middle of being so close to being really good but just as close to being mediocre. Overall though, on the rocks it is pretty good. Can't say I would buy again but can't say I wouldn't.
Butter and vanilla. Excellent on a rock with good complexity (7). Disappointed as a mixer. (5)
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nose: Raw sugar, flowers, grapefruit and sand/seawater.
Body: Butterscotch, vanilla, nutmeg, and clove. Spices somewhat overwhelm.
Finish: Spices morph into a saline-like saltiness.
Light and straightforward, but surprisingly sophisticated. I think this is quite underrated.
