Kirk and Sweeney 12-Year

I wasn’t optimistic about this one, but pleasantly surprised. Lots of caramel and vanilla and possibly a little sweet for some, but not for me. Very close to my mid range favourite, Doorlys 12 year old, but it’s normally around 10% to 20% cheaper, so excellent value. Excellent bottle too.
Since posting this, Kirk and Sweeney have changed many of their offerings, so can’t buy this now. Their replacements are similar, but so much more expensive.

Outstanding rum. Very smooth with an authentic rum taste and no offensive notes. Works well for mixing but almost feels wasted. Great as a chilled sipper. For the price, you can’t best this rum, or even come close.

Disappointed in the overwhelm8ng taste of vanilla in this rum. Will not buy again.

Not a bad rum to sip but leaves much to be desired.

Going to be short and sweet on this review , this rum is awesome smooth and very easy drinking a wonderful aroma and taste

Der Geruch ist besser als der Geschmack.
In Mund sehr mild nach Faß und Frucht. Im Abgang mit einer ganz leichten Schärfe.

This is one that I enjoyed sipping, but not my absolute favorite. Good flavors and a solid mixture of sweet and spice. Good price point for what you're getting.

I've tried the 18 year also, which I also rate a 9, but I prefer the 12 by just a little. It's really tasty and a true pleasure to drink neat.

I like a good sipping rum that tastes like rum. Smooth, flavorful, with a modest bite to it. It's got to have a hint of sweetness to it, as that's what rum is all about. This one fits perfectly.

Currently on sale at Sainsbury's for £32:50 and I would say it's a steal at that price.

Mildly vanilla, smoke and oak and possibly the mildest burn of anything I have tried before.
One to be savoured by itself.

I had been looking forward to trying Kirk and Sweeney for a long time , the bottle is a work of art although pretty impractical when trying to pour the rum into a glass !! On the nose , just alcohol vapours and a bit of caramel.. Medium legs suggests no added sugar.. left to breathe. Sips just fine with a nice warming burn. Still not much of a flavour profile to me.. caramel , wood and a dry leather ? A bit thin but im glad i got a bottle. I will try the 18 as it gets a good rating..
