This rum really throws me off base. Full 22 aging, instead of second maturation it was done first 9 years in French Armanac casks then a full 13 years in French white oak casks. Not your typical charred oak ex bourbon casks. So the color is very golden not brown as expected. Three casks only world wide. Distilled 100% Guyana Enmore wooden coffee still but has none of the familiar El Dorado or Pusser's flavors. Diluted to 40% itโs very easy in the nose and even easier to drink. This is a solid great rum just not what I expected. No additives just pure unadulterated rum.
On to tasting no alcohol scent in the nose sligh vanilla butterscotch scents. Tasting brings the same with an occasional slight raisin & liquorish taste.
After breaking 500 rating I seldom try new and different rums but this one caught my attention. World wide only 3 casks will ever be released so likely one and done unless I fall in love at $195 bottle. Speaking of bottles itโs a work of art. My family thought I bought a high end tequila. Hats off to them taking this gamble. I have no regrets even though I prefer more full bodied darker aged rums. I can only imagine this at 52-62 proof.
I was completely ignorant about this style of rum, a bartender at Test Pilot in Santa Barbara, CA made me a Mai Tai with a mix of this rum with Smith & Cross. I was hooked from that moment on. I now always have an extra in the pantry.
Earthy and oxidized fruit โย in a good way.
It's incredibly sweet with heavy notes of (presumably artificial) vanilla and banana.
Purchased in Brussels on the way home โค๏ธ
Appearance: Amber
Aroma: sweet, a lil cigar.
Flavor: dusty, sweet, orange blossom, smoke.
Notes: this is a complex rum with waves of flavor. The sweetness undergirds the complexity to tie things together.
Loved it, from the rich smell when you opened the bottle all the way through the tasting g to the aftertaste. Iโm my opinion the โfinest Caribbean rumโ lives up to its title
Water as part of the serving is inevitable. Try maybe two ice cubes and a couple of slices of lime. Let the flavors mingle for at least five minutes, stirring now and then. But like I said, you wouldn't want to drink this sugar-laden drink alone in the desert.
Tried this little fella and was not disappointed. Huge orange oil on the palate, lots of lovely sweet and sour orange, some anise on the finish. Its quite viscous for a 40% ABV offering. At this price point this is a very nice sipping rum I would recommend.
From the Forbidden Hole collection.

Appearance: medium amber
Aroma: rock candy, vanilla extract
Flavor: vanilla, juicy fruit gum, maybe some soft cloves.
Notes: there's a lot going on here. This is ridiculous sweet. 35% ABV qualifies this for a debate about whether this is a liquor or liqueur โค๏ธ
Totalny klasyczek do koktajli, przede wszystkim mojito. Nic nadzwyczajnego, ale nie jest to najgorszy rum jaki piลem :)
Good rum, definitely worth its price. A little bit harsh, but can be enjoyed both neat and in a cocktail.
7,5:On the nose, we get a light rum, fruity and gourmet notes, characteristic of molasses rums, notes of dried banana and yellow peach, is buttery, agricole spicy, roastedness comes out with aeration, now a bit smoky, metallic, iodized, but with floral freshness, the cocoa is also roasted. Balanced and round.
7,4:On the palate, there is a refreshing salinity, balanced with sweetness, we find fruity, as peaches, banana and floral notes, is mineral, pepper spicy, some sweet spices with agricole notes and quite roasted with metallic, iodine notes and a bit dry.
7:The finish is warm, light, quite short, but round, a bit sweet, with molasses, agricole, peach notes, the wood is a bit dry.
Not bad but had a good bit of funk to it. Label mentions sugarcane juice which makes it taste more like a rhum agricole to me, which really isnโt my thing. But if you like rhum agricole, youโll probably like this one.
The extra time spent in "heavily charged" oak gives this one a bit of a smokey whiskey note that isn't my favorite in rum. I'll stick with the cheaper and "cleaner" 3-year. Still good!
Bought in an auction because i think the el dorado three dots amd a dash uitvlgust is a 10 (only in the chicago bar 3 dots and a dash) but this is a leass polished version even if its almost double the age.
A bit too sweet or itโd be an 8, has a cognac finish type taste burn is medium and its smooth but there are better zacapas recommend the selections
I love hampden lrok the younger 5yr so was excited to taste this 11yr leok version and wasnโt disappointed, i dont like funk except jamaican funky rums like hampden. This was a smoother version but missed the explosion of flavor of its younger version
Vanilla on the nose, a bit weak and watered down but still straight down the middle good. Like a vanilla forward zacapa, but sweeter
This is pretty good. Light but single note. Odd thing first tasting I got pineapple, banana and coconut. Third second time around I taste very strong tobacco and a touch of coconut.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
