Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Buttery, spicy, mild sweetness.
Finish is a bit harsh, but ok
A super smooth, rich, deep rum. Full of warmth and smoothness.
A super smooth, rich, deep rum. Full of warmth and smoothness.
The distribution of this rum is massive: any restaurant with a decent drinks list has it.
It is more marketing than quality.
The taste is not bad but it’s not smooth at all.
Luckily I didn’t buy it but I had the chance to order it in a restaurant (11€ for a 20dc glass).
This is an oldie but one of my favorite rums. Porteno 21 is a Colombian rum that appears to be aged in some version of an oak barrel.
The first nose is very mild with a hint of the alcohol. The second nose reveals a sweet hint of Carmel or vanilla. The first sip is light on the tongue with a very mild sweet hint of Carmel. The second sip opens up the flavors more, the wood and pepper come through. It ends with a mild fruit taste and a medium finish. This is a very light rum and not too sweet.
This is a sipper best served neat and chilled. Served on the rocks flattens out the already mild flavor to almost nothing. Mixed with a splash of coke is nice as it does not make it too sweet. The price point between $30-$50 makes it a good sipper when it’s on sale.
Thoughts: An overly artifical rum that's had sugar and artifical flavourings added to it. Not an unpleasant drink just not what a standard rum drinker would have. £28 is a little pricey for a flavoured rum but it's "hand crafted" so that immediately increases the price in the UK.

Smell - Sweet artifical passionfruit, faint coconut
Taste - Sweetened artifical passionfruit, hint of coconut, mixed spice of ginger on initial tasting
After Taste - Medium length, coconut more noticeable, cassia bark
I’m not a fan of licorice so this rum has been a weird experience since the first sip for me.
It’s easy to drink (if you like licorice) and balanced tho.
Somehow I can consider it elegant but I don't think I'd buy a bottle.
Great price but not super funky. Goes well in a Tiki drink if you are looking for a low funk.
Very nice on the rocks. can taste the vanilla and chocolate
Thoughts: Not being fans of ginger, we were concerned but the sweetness of the vanilla is the dominant flavour with the ginger being brought up in the background. More present on the finish than at the start, the ginger just brings a warming spiciness to it. £23 a bottle means this a nice change of flavour, one you can risk, you could mix without being too expensive. Definitely buy another bottle when finished!

Smell - Really light sweet vanilla and ginger
Taste - Mild alcohol burn, sweet strong vanilla, slight spice
After Taste - Medium length; slight spice taste develops into the ginger flavour, not overpowering
Thoughts: Cargo Cult Batch No. 4. A light and relatively easy drinking rum: a number of different flavours exist but doesn't really stand out from the crowd. It is unusual in the fact that it's light in colour, flavour and overall taste but still does pack a large amount of cinnamon sugar. Spiciness exists from start to finish and is probably the lasting sensation of the rum. £30/£35 makes it not too expensive to try but a little too much to be sold on having another bottle.

Smell - Cinnamon sugar, floral, hints of vanilla
Taste - Spicy with ginger notes, cinnamon
After Taste - Long finish, spicy in the mouth, not many other flavours
For a change the smell outbids the flavour. Drank neat, the smell is full of sunshine fruit and bits of vanilla and could remind you of being in a Caribbean sweet factory; the taste fails to really emerge. Yes, its a spicy rum drink and it's orangery and so the taste reflects that but it doesn't develop much more from there. Drop some ice in it and, well, it's gets colder and slightly watered down to no surprise but doesn't really change the outcome. The finish is pretty good but reminds us of a cheap non-branded orange squash/cordial which if you don't have to you wouldn't willingly drink. £25 in the UK from everywhere, it works off of Brewdog's beer/lager name but doesn't really do much for those who enjoy a rum.

Smell - Toasted pineapple, candied orange, slightly spiced, artifical smell but sweet and a little appealing, vanilla appears after a couple of sips
Taste - Orange in the start, punching spices like black pepper and a diluted citrus taste.
After Taste - Medium to long but is quite a dull citrus finish like a non-branded orange squash/cordial.
Nice full body taste, smells amazing. Nice design on the bottle
8,6:On the nose, this rum is really estery refreshing with fruity, grassy and tea aromas. We get nice, juicy tropical fruits like litchi, intense, ripe guava, there is vegetal side also with some juicy carrot and roasted with light smokiness and tar.
After airing the rum, it shows its complexity with dried fruits, light woodiness with some tannins, is again a bit vegetal and becomes herbal after some rest. Also notes of leather are present. All well rounded...
8,6:On the palate, strong and juicy tropical fruits burst and overwhelm our tasting buds. There is omnipresent ripe guava, passion fruit. Nice pastry, like yummy honeyed brioche, coconut cake, join the fruitiness. The rum becomes spicy with sweet spices like cinnamon. After a while, yellow and dried fruits with dried apricot join the party and we are going towards the pear fruit schnapps notes, what a nice complexity.
After resting the rum, roasted palate is even more obvious with smoky, ashy, tarry and some metallic notes. When cannot forget floral notes later on and milk chocolate.
8,2:The finish is medium, a bit thin, mild with dried fruits, oak with vanilla, spicy and omnipresent ripe guava, a bit tarry.

I have been drinking bourbon for a while now and felt like I hit the ceiling for tastes I enjoyed. I stumbled upon the Rum Reddit and found myself intrigued. After some searching and seeing some solid recommendations, I landed on El Dorado 12. This is a great sipper with a sweet cinnamon nose. You can smell the oak character, which is wonderful for my bourbon nose. The fruit forward scents hit you from time to time as well. The taste leans into the sweet vanilla and oak while also maintaining a wonderful fruit cocktail cup. One of my favorites that I love exploring in both a drink and alone.
Was recommended this for some Dark & Stormy drinks. It plays well with the ginger beer and has a wonderful nose. I wouldn't say this is the greatest rum but for the price and taste, I'm happy to mix it in my sodas and other tiki drinks.
Bati Spiced was a vary nice surprise. I have tried the more expensive Ratu 5 and 8 years (8 year is a rum liqueur) but this was really nice and for a very good price point.
This is the closest I have found to Takamaka spiced from the Seychelles but it’s much easier to get ahold of.
Very sippable meat which is great for a spiced rum and add cola to it for vanillery deliciousness.
No one of my go to rums!
Aroma was ok at best, body was light, and finished with a surprising burn
The aroma, the body, the finish - perfection! It’s been my favourite since the first sip.
Nice golden amber color, almost the color of iced tea. Clove and nutmeg forward on the nose. Taste leads with cinnamon and ends on a vanilla nutmeg note. Sweetness filled with molasses.
Better then Mamtuano. Not so sharp, you can feel that it is older.
