There are toffee and sweet brown sugar aromas with the slightest hint of oakiness. There's a light sweetness to the rum initially and then fills your mouth with toffee. Not very complex at all but it’s extremely tasty. Cola didn’t come close to this rum. It's a mood rum for me. End of the week rum and life is good!
There is nice aroma and toffee/caramel and oakiness in the back. It is enjoyabel to drink. Very smooth. In my opinion there is not much of complexity but maybe because all notes feels subtle. Therefore lacks depth.
This rum is definitely not top tier but it is tasty. Mixed into a rum old fashioned or even just the classic rum and coke (my go to choice for this rum) it stands it’s ground as a good rum
I tested this rum last weekend, and I liked it. It is a good choice, I recommend it.
Door de rijping heeft deze een muf smaakje maar daarom geen drinken is het een prima rum
Fare rum for fare price. I have always a bottle in my bar.

The nose is light and gentle.
"It’s quite nicely balanced but just a little bit too nice."

My first rum from dominican republic today. Ron Barcelo Imperial. Great name - so let's see if his name lives up to its promise :-).
Nose : caramel and wood. Nothing extraordinary but surprising intensive for this low budget.
Palate : caramell again, chocolate, sweet with a light sharpness, nutty moments, licorice with oak. Tobacco ? Yes, maybe. Interesting.
Finish : long. Rum-typical with licorice. Maybe hints of banana.
Conclusion : this rum has a fantastic price/performance ratio. For round 20 Euro here in Germany you won't find a better one. Less added sugar (~7 g/l) and in comparison to Malecon 18 years such a surprising full body. Optimal for newcomers.
