Santa Teresa 1796 rum is produced in Venezuela and aged using the solera system that blends rums aged between 4 and 35 years. Before bottling, the rum is aged for a further year in large French oak casks to marry the blends.
This rum was first created in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the distillery, the Santa Teresa Hacienda.

This one was on someone's list of good rums for the price. I've been disappointed by most of these but I do like trying different bottles so my son and I bought it. First I was surprised that it was quite good. Secondly it seemed like I was drinking another Venezuelan rum I like, Diplomatico Special Reserve. At virtually the same price I like them both equally. Nice taste, pretty smooth and a reasonable price for a special occasion rum. Certainly too good to mix with anything.
I find it at โฌ 30,00 and so I give it a try (twice, really). It's good, it's satisfying and sweet, but it lacks of personality and the satisfaction lasts not enough in your mouth.
This has a nice smooth taste which makes it something you can drink easily straight. Itโs what youโd expect of the carribean rums
Itโs a beautiful colour in the glass, but my first impression was the ethanol on the tongue. Once it had warmed up a little, the deep, rich raisin flavours came out and it was a completely different drink. Pretty good.
This is a solid rum to be sure but there was a certain lacking quality for me. Santa Teresa lacked complexity for me. It was more on the dry, oaky side rather than rich, fruity and the viscosity was a tad thinner than I was expecting. That being said this stuff is smoother than all hell and nearly goes down like water. For the price point you could spend about 15-20 dollars for something you may enjoy more.
This was a good sipping rum. Sweet caramel nose off the top. I am new to this so I can't distinguish the many different flavors others have posted however this is a smooth rum. I did not sense the heavy alcohol aftertaste that some mentioned and found this to be a decent rum.
The Rum Barrel Review
"On the nose thereโs a lovely dark profile. Fresh ground coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, plums. There are some tropical fruits like pineapple and passion fruit, followed by a slight grassy note. Nutmeg, old leather, tobacco and white pepper. On the palate it goes down so easy. Milk chocolate, vanilla, honey, mango, toffee and cashews. Canned pineapple, blackcurrant, coconut cream and coca cola. The tobacco note is back along with some cinnamon. Not crazy sweet, fairly well balanced and easy going. Cocoa butter and orange marmalade. Towards the end is where you get a bit more oak spices and some alcohol heat. The finish is short with cocoa nibs, some oak tannins and maple syrup."
Has a nice light sweet vanilla note.
"Spicy notes and a oaky lavour are very pleasant and not overpowering."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
