Aroma - Mango and pineapple followed by overripe bananas.
Taste - Fresh bananas followed by mango, grass, and a cinnamon butter finish.
A very tasty Jamaican overproof rum that would go very nicely in classic Tiki cocktails or sipped neat if accustomed enough.
This has a flavor/aroma that some people just won't care for, as evidenced by the wide range of ratings from 1-10. To me it smells like a wet dog, but on the palate its a bit better than that would suggest. I'm not fond of this flavor profile, its similar to Hamilton Pot Still Black which is also Worthy Park funk, and I didn't care for that much either. I blend a little of this into other Jamaican rums I have, some of them were already blends to begin with, and I like the way it increases the funk level a bit in those, but the full strength funk is a bit much for my tastes. Won't be buying this again.
This sub-$30 bottle packs a punch. Big, strong flavors of fruits, olives, salt and some Jamaican funk.
For those seriously getting into rum, this should be tried along with Wray & Nephew and Rum Fire. All are good/great and huge values.
Really good taste and smell, if you are not fun of overproof rums, this should be your no.1 into drinks and mixing
Rum just doesn't get better than this.
Big overripe banana, fresh cut grass, raw cane juice, papaya, butter, funk. Surprisingly silky for the category, the ABV and funk are there, but don't overwhelm an experienced drinker.
Perhaps not one for people who need wood in their rum.
I just love Wray overproof, so was looking for something similar, just for a change (but not too big a change :p ). So i tried this one and Rum Fire. I prefer the Rum-Bar, its actually has a smooth soft flavour for a overproof. Over here perhaps a tad expensive to justify buying it over a very similar , but cheaper Wray & Nephew. Great for a try tough. Jamaican Overproof FTW
One of my few experiences with unaged white rums. 63%ABV(!) rum from Jamaica distilled by pot distillation. Really strong funky charge that is especially intended for cocktails.
Bottle: High, such a standard for cheaper spirits.
Color: Transparent.
Smell: A fruity red currant spirit at first taste. Quite a strange smell for a rum. The rum smells of red fruits (red currants, raspberries) and ferment, but nothing else.
Flavour: Strong fruity spirit (something between plum brandy and currant brandy).
Summary: This rum is really more suited to cocktails. It's not that it's low quality, but it doesn't give me the right pleasure in terms of taste. I prefer the plum brandy for straight drinking.
Rating: 4,5/10
Fantastic Jamaican overproof, with the quintessential banana notes, burnt sugar, molasses and fruits. A little too hot to drink straight but it does mellow with a splash of water and release a lot of flavor. Excellent as a mixer.
Vegetal almost like fresh sugarcane.
"It smells of sweet alcohol mixed with freshly cut grass an almost sour slightly fermented note."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Familiar jamaican flavors with ripe bananas in the sun. That's a good thing. The flavor is not. Too much burn!
