Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A distinct deep, almost syrupy, nose. Easily sippable neat or on ice, but a bit too sweet. If this came down to ~10g/L it would be interesting because the complexity is hiding in there and is very interesting. I get why people love it, but the sugar drowns out the natural flavors.
nice taste but too sweet definately like the taste though will buy again
Caramel and barrel. Some potpourri. Golden amber pour. Goes nice with the cognac cigarillo here. Bottle at Barcelo Palace in DR.
We all have different preferences and tastes. For me, I found this bottle to be good but unremarkable. No real distinguishing taste or features. It is a decent rum to sip on, but not one I’d buy again.
Overall if you’re a beginner in the rum world or just someone who enjoys sweet sippers this would be fine. Very easy to drink. A little too sugary for me, but if you tend to like Zaya or Diplomatico you would enjoy this.
Smooth buttery sweet sipping rum. Enjoy after a game of golf with friends in a cabin.
It's a rather sweet rum but I like it. It went down smoothly.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Honestly this is a very good rum. Personally for me this isn't something I would necessarily go for but overall I'd give this an 8/10. Not much info from me but I've only had one glass of it so far. Maybe this will change the more I drink it.
