Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Yes it tastes great. No it is not a genuine aged rum. The XO version is IMO less sweet and more what this rum should be, but the 23 has been sweetened to make it more appealing to the American palate. Also, this is not a 23 yr old rum, it is a Solera blend of aged rum the OLDEST of which is 23 yrs, the average age is closer to 6-8 years
Výborný reprezentant značky - velmi sladký a karamelový.
This is a fine, sweet, nice rum, but..
I bought this rum due to the great reviews and the adverticed awards.
The reviews and awards seam to be for a rum bottled many years ago.
I find this a very good rum for the price, but it is not what the hype want you to believe. I did however just buy this as a pressant for a non rum drinker (or rum-starter) it will not let you down as a good start.
Très plaisant, moins sucré qu'un diplomatico mais très agréable au nez et en bouche
If your going to buy a special rum then Ron Zacapa pushes all the right buttons!
I was very excited when I found a bottle of Ron Zacapa Solera 23 at my local store.
Nice bottle nice pour beautiful color, strong alcohol scent hit me harder than expected. But after it sat it became enjoyable.
In the mouth. Some heat up front with molasses, nuts I get a bit if citrus. Smooth finish a little peppery. Over all a good rum but there are better rums for the money.
The flavors start out harsh for my standards, but great coppery color, enjoy it neat!
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
