Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

I bought two mini-bottles (50 ml) to try this. After tasting several times before rating, here's my take: smooth and balanced with a classic rum taste and no odd or overpowering flavors. I tried this neat, neat with a little water and on ice and had no complaint. It's pricy and definitely a special occasion rum. Still weighing my price to quality rating but it's no bargain and I wouldn't use it as a mixer.
Well worth the money. Good and smooth. For sipping and enjoying
Good for sipping.. Sweet.. Notes of vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate..
This is one of the best rums from Ron Zacapa. Great blend and easy to find in the states. My go-to rum when the great rum gets low. Big jump from the 12 year.
My cousin showed me his bottle but would not share. I had to buy my own bottle to see what the hullabaloo was all about. It was worth the wait.
I bought this bottle because of it's GREAT RATINGS, but it is not for my palate. Very oaky, strong flavored rum. I would guess this is what GOOD rum is supposed to be like, but I will not get another. I have found cheaper, more pleasant rums.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Love the vanilla, Carmel flavors. Great either on the rocks or neat. Pairs well with many of my cigars
