Bacardi Gold rum

Bacardi Gold

CK
had this rum recently

United States | Gold | 40% ABV

Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.

Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.

Ok so there is no way you would use this as a sipper but thats not how its marketed. Assessed as just as what its meant to be this is a good middle of the road mixer thats perfect for a party. It mixes ok and has no outstanding personal notes that get in the way of that use. For the dollars there are hundreds of better rums. Cant see the extreme ratings on either side a 1 2, 9 or 10 says to me that you need to try a few more rums to see what bad and good really are. 4 for me

This tastes not very well. Oakheart is much better.

With the plethora of decent rums out there comparable in price to the Bacardi Gold, you could do much better. I just have a hard time seeking out a rum that can be shelved in supermarkets, high end tiki bars, diners and family owned restaurants as their high tier rum of choice. Yuk...come on! Education, education, read articles, liquor articles boasting so many other alternatives to the Bacardi crap. They don't take the fine time to make an optimal product, rather, they are all for making the stuff as quickly to fill the shelves while quality become the less important characteristic.

It's a mixer all the way but a good one at that. Numerous cocktails await this one.

Bacardi really amaze me. How can they produce so many average rums and still become so popular?

I found this rum good in a rum punch where you do not want too much rum flavour. Not a sipping rum and does not make a good rum and coke ,where you want more rum taste.
