Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.
This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

It's dry like a Cuban rum, and with the refined, delicate aroma of Spanish-style rums. Whenever a cocktail recipe calls for aged Puerto Rican or Cuban rum, this is the perfect choice.
This is a wonderful sipper. For an 8 year this has great flavor and body. A great value.
A good rum for the price point, too light for sipping but does put some punch in cocktails. A Bacardi 8 Mojito is excellent
I swear it is really difficult to distinguish this from other Bacardi rums like Reserva. This one is sort of ok but very lackluster. Thin, not complex. No balance or real bite. It just is a boring. You can’t pick this out of the flock. Bacardi just isn't a very good distillery. What they do really well is marketing and merchandising.
Cleans the toilet like bleach. Nothing more the grey water.
An above average Rum which is very enjoyable but not my first choice rum, not my first choice Bacardi but still nice.
Barcadi Ocho is a good entry rum for people who want to broaden their experience into rum from other spirits.
smokey almost whiskey like finish, a good rum for scotch drinkers. Was hoping for more depth of tasting notes.

Smells sweet but also oaky.
"It is a well balanced rum. When sipped, or mixed with a little ice or water the Bacardi 8 is very decent. It’s very smooth and easy to sip."

The old Bacardi from 2010, I can finally get my hands on it.
Yes, it has a bacardy 8 profile similar to the current release version. But there are some differences.
It's more creamy and has more vanilla, less steel aroma and thats why I think it's milder or feels smoother.
Do I like it more? I not sure yet. I think I like both and this one is
Nose: caramel, vanilla, molasses (typical Bacardi, coffee, salt), some heavy aromas in the background (gum, stainless steel)
Taste initial: caramel, vanilla, molasses
Middle: white oak, vanilla, stainless steel and tropical fruit (like orange)
Finish: wood, spice
Sweetness: 2/5
Fruits: 2/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Mildness: 4/5
