Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

I prefer the Bacardi 8 as a mixing rum when I’m making a rum and coke. It had a good molasses flavor that pairs nice with the soda. I find it to be a little bitter when drank neat.

While majorly not an 8 year old rum, there are still good oak notes. A well balanced blend with strong toffee, oak, and vanilla notes.

A good rum for it’s price. Not for sipping but very good in cuba libre.

I know it much more complex than the dark
but it Still servess as a mixer, although you could sip it on a hot day with ice.

Good for cocktails, not great... wouldn’t sip it... Good value for a basic rum.

Like anything involving the island of Cuba, I think politics plays a role in anything related to the island, not excluding rum.
I've read the reviews of Bacardi 8 and I think an inherent anti-Cuban exile bias plays a review.
I will state that I am a Cuban exile living overseas, and I have bought various variations of Havana Club while living outside the U.S.
I have tried Havana Club 7 años añejo as a sipping rum for my weekly Old Fashioned, and just purchased Bacardi 8, as my local supermarket had it discounted at half price.
After drinking Havana Club añejo 7 años for more than a year, I much prefer Bacardi 8 as a regular sipping rum.
I drink it with an ice cube, and it goes down smoother, with less burn, than Havana Club.
Sorry to dispel the naysayers. I know it's cooler to favor the brand that actually comes from the island.
But Bacardi carries on its heritage.
Viva Cuba Libre.

Klassisches Rum-Aroma mit einem rauchige Anteil. Wenig Süsse, leichte Frucht, in dem Preissegment empfehlenswert. Vergleichbar mit dem Havanna Club 7yo aber "geradliniger" und nicht so süss.
