Tasted at Laka Lono on 8-27-23. Deep golden color to light amber. Strong aromatics of caramel butterscotch vanilla and brown sugar. Flavor not quite as much as the divine aroma. Maple syrup followed by a super strong woodiness. Too much wood in fact. Hot pepper finish.
Personally I like the Saint Lucia style. The mistake was to taste the "Forgotten Casks" first. In comparison, this rum seems stronger, but less aromatic.
This rum tastes pretty bad and it seems higher proof, although it's not. It could be use as a mixer and it's not pricey, but there are better rums in its price range, such as R.L. Seale's 10 years.
I have only had a few drinks of this one. Not sure if this one is for me, may update when the bottle is finished.
Good rum. Little bit of sweetness to it. And little bit of harshness and burn but not overly so especially when on the rocks. Just no character or complexity to it. Back of the bottle says "...an award winning handcrafted blend...blah blah blah" Not sure what awards it won but maybe they were all local awards in St. Lucia. There is nothing that stands out at all with this rum. I can rattle off a 1\2 dozen cheaper rums that are better - not A LOT better but, better than this with more flavor and character.
On the nose is light, smokey and also has some banana. In the mouth you catch almost the same fruity flavours with oak and a little burning at the end, but it's not so strong and long finish, so you can drink neat if that's what you like it. Old fashioned is great with this one. At this price range is very hard to beat it and could be very easy your everyday rum.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Great ratio between taste and price for this piece. Nice woody smell and taste, really good taste for this price
