Pyrat XO Reserve rum

Pyrat XO Reserve

Multiple | Gold | 40% ABV | Pot Still

Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.

The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Ce rum a un goût d'oranges très prononcé. Parfait dans différents cocktails ou avec du Coca.

Nice, but nothing overly distinct. Would do in a pinch.

I actually like some of the cheaper brands better. It's worth trying if a friend has it, just to see what you think. A couple of my friends really like it. I'm thinking it's the orange I don't like, it almost tasted forced.

Nice taste of like vine brandy. Stronger taste of alcohol. Harder to drink, not so sweet.

I received this rum in a beautiful book-shaped box. The initial aroma was very attractive. Degustation turned into heavy drinking after an exhasting work day but it still did not satisfied us completely with the outcome. Perhaps the unique taste really needs time. TODO: to taste the rum on the Anguilla island.

If you don't like tangerines - don't bother.
I don't usually like flavoured or spiced rums.
My mate Karlsson served this on his roof.
Ridiculous bottle, comes with a key fob showing the Buddha of rums (really!)
Glass: Gold
Nose: Tangerines, Vanilla, Clementines, rum and - Tangerines
Mouth: Sweet (4/5) tangerines, vanilla, rum and - tangerines
Burn: Mellow
Strangely it works - at the Diplomatico and Plantation end of the spectrum. But if you like the cognac and whisky end of things, this is probably not for you.

Docela dobrý rum, sladší, ale hlavně citrusový. Nelze ho zaměnit s jiným rumem.

Very good sipping rum. A good change from. Most since it has lots of citrus mainly orange and lemon hiding from the nose. They really come out on the tongue and finish. Over all really nice but not my cup of tea neat. Would be great in juice cocktails though.

I can barely detect that this even has rum as a base. Doctoring rums with unlabelled additives is the rum world's dirty secret but this one takes the mickey. They don't even attempt to be subtle. Other rums, like Matusalem for example, integrate the additives so you can con yourself into believing that it's just possible that vanilla note comes from the oak barrel or whatever. But this is just BANG in your face orange flavouring, gallons of sugar syrup and some other smoothing agents that coat your tongue. It is to real rum what WKD is to vodka. All of this is just fine if you know what you're buying and happen to like it.but the price tag is quite another thing - it's not worth more than 10-12 quid in my view. Certainly not rum for people who like actual rum I'm afraid.
