Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

If you are on a budget or looking to get your friend a gift, this rum is what you want. Lots of caramel and vanilla, which gives this rum copious amounts of sweetness. Average initial taste, but bold finish. Definitely a good rum for the price, but not the best.
Very orangy. Smooth. Mouthfeel is good. Glassfeel is great. Nose feel is good.
Blends well with Plantation Barbados 5yr to cut some of the Orange flavoring.
Well I was certainly surprised to read these reviews, rating from 1 to 10!!!!!
It was my first taste of " proper sipping " rum and to this day remains one of my very favourite rums.
Yes it's orange aroma stands out, vanilla not far behind, even toffee at times. It has good legs in the glass and a distinctive burn.
Personally I only ever drink Pyrat, like all my preferred rums, with 1 ice cube. ( by preferred I mean the ones that are too good to put any mixer with).
I guess the spread from 1 to 10 is, after all, what keeps forums alive, everyone's opinions are relevant and in this case vastly different, but fascinating.
Out of interest has anyone tried the Cask 1623.
Cheers graham.
Good rum with light taste of dried orange peel. I like to have this one in my cabinet.
Pyrat XO is the most favourite rum of mine. Love the sweet taste!
Bought this one after reading a series of very positive reviews on the net. Interesting experience, but is this a natural rum? I am really curious… so much orange! If this is natural, Pyrat did achieve something, even if not to my taste: I don’t like Cointreau. It ended up mixed with coke and that was ok.
NB: I am not a specialist. It just happens that I like rum.
Orange taste, interesting to try, but I think once is enough.
I heard great things about this rum and the orange profile but had a very hard time finding them. Perhaps the reviews I read were from before Patron acquired the brand.
Felt very light in the palate, almost too thin in terms of consistency. Orange dominated aroma and taste.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"
"Pyrat XO rum review by Jimmy from The Drunken Pirate"
"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."
"Pyrat XO rum review by Lance from RumConnection"
A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Mein 8. Rating:
Geschmack in Cola (Note 8):
Geil, weil die Orange toll zur Cola passt.
Ebenso sind die oben genannten Noten zu schmecken.
Die Alkoholschärfe ist, im Gegensatz zum Kraken, noch ausreichend vorhanden.
Fazit:
Ein toller Rum!
Pur dominiert der Fassgeschmack etwas.
In Cola überwiegt der frische Orangengeschmack leicht.
Passt super zur kommenden Sommer-Jahreszeit.
Prost!
