Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Don't get me wrong - its not a terrible sipping choice. I find the taste little too plain, bit simple and heavily overwhelmed with citrus accents. Letting it breathe helps.
too overrated. Too alcoholic, too simple, too young. I couldn't find any proper information about it's real age, to my guess, 4/5 of the spirits were maximum 3-4 years. So, I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it.
They missed the mark with this one. Pretty heavy on the Citrus, but too oily to be balanced within its realm. More syrup than flavor. It has been incorporated into a few of my tiki cocktails, but with a balancing force, such as a young white rum. In this way it can be useful, but as a sipper its not for me.
An engineered rum, a good rum to start to get to know the rum world
I couldn't sit and sip this which was a shame - it had a very artificial orangey flavour to it and too much of a burn for my liking, it was enjoyed as a mixer however hence the 5. On the plus side the bottle/packaging looked great.
I went into this one with high expectations. After all they use the same bottle as amazing Rum & Cane, but I had to curse the day I even thought they would fit in the same category.
When opening the bottle and having the first sniff it feels like a mix of industrial cleanser with a lot of sugar to keep it mild. After a moment in the glass it started developing some cleaner, more natural features, but even after 30 minutes in the glass it still remains a weak rum
Orange flavour with strong taste of cheap alcool. So with a 3 I am generous.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
