Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Such an incredible smell! My drinking experience always starts with the smell. Every single tasting note complements the others. The rum goes down so smooth. I made a mad scramble around Paris to find a bottle before I left. I canโt find it in my area.
Absoute winner for the price. Actually much better then the majority of pricier rum's out there.
Its colour is amber.
On the nose, it is the toasted (or even fried) coconut that immediately comes to the fore and is more and more present! Vanilla and orange reinforce the greedy side of this rum.
In the mouth it is also greedy and soft (without being too sweet). It is the vanilla that comes to the fore and relegates the coconut to second place. The texture of this rum is also greedy.
The finish is coconutty and not just a little. There is also the sensation of something fatty and unctuous
Ottimo rum da sorseggiare ad un ottimo prezzo. Ottimo per tirarsela con gli amici
For me, this is right on the line of sipper vs. mixer. Tolerable as a sipper with a bit of ice and exceptionally tasty as a mixer.
I'll admit that I am definitely a rum newbie but, this is clearly the best one I have tried, thus far ...Has a very clean/clear elegant taste and balance in its sweetness with out being artificially colored(that i'm aware of). The color reminds me of an Islay Scotch whisky so, more golden than amber.
Comes in a really cool-looking bottle with a big fat ergonomic cap on it that is easily removed and screwed back on(we older guys appreciate this๐).
I am in Pennsylvania and this is only 1 of 2 Plantation rums that we are able to get through the state-controlled system, unfortunately...
I would very much like to try some of the other premium offerings...
Having said all that, another member of this website warned me that this company has "shady business practices" and that maybe things are not all as they appear but, it tastes good...

It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Had to buy cheaper rum to avoid drinking it in one night
