Plantation Barbados 5-Year rum is distilled from molasses and aged 5 years in bourbon casks before being transported to France for further 'finishing' in Cognac casks.
Plantation rum is owned by the French company Cognac Ferrand, which was founded in 1989 and produces wine, gin, and other spirits to sell in over 40 countries. The Plantation range includes 7 vintages from different Caribbean countries and 3 blends of multiple regions.

This is great- lovely to make Corn and Oil with! Enjoyable Rum! :)
While it is good, the rum lacks the depth of longer aged rums. The rum is less sweet than many rums with notes of cola, spice and vanilla. Good, but doesn't have the sweetness and molasses I prefer.
A sweet rum at a wonderful price. This surely opens up the door for me to try the many other varieties of Plantation.

This will be my new daily sipper. For a $25 dollar bottle of rum, you cant go wrong with this one. Not sweetened, and not too sharp on the nose. Just a well balanced rum for a really good price.
The amount of fresh oak & spiciness is quite strong and sharp for me.

The first nice sipping rum I bought -- this stuff is delicious. Heavy vanilla and sugar flavors makes this an easy sipper. This has now become my go to for any recipe calling for aged rum. I never do not have this on my bar cart -- ole reliable.
