First u have to get past the astringent smell on the nose. More like finger nail polish remover, but after that it's awesome. Sherry, banana, fruit and burnt sugar on the palate with a bourbon oak finish. Great rum.
Nice flavor - a bit too stringent for more than one. Borderline keeper
Gave it a 9 only because i haven't rated a 10 yet. You open the bottle and it's the typical Bajan Foursquare rum you expect. Thing is, it doesn't have anything from nose to finish that can irritate you the least. Nose starts fresh with ripe fruit, vanilla and caramel and palate follows being creamy, sweet, with spices and dates in the background and the definite aging effect coming from the sherry butts. That sherry influence continues to the finish which is lingering and pleasant with just a little burn you expect from the abv. I think i ll buy me a 2nd one coz i can't see this lasting xD
Sherry, sherry... sherry. Oh yes, 70% of maturation time was in ex-sherry casks! Interesting? Come inside we tell you more about this interesting Rum!
This rum was born in Foursquare distillery which is located in Barbados. If you are heard about they Exceptional cask selection here is the eighth release which one comes out in January 2018. This is a blend of different rums from the pot distillation and twin column continuous distillation. Aging: 3 years in ex-bourbon casks and after additionally 7 years aged in ex-sherry casks. And the result is absolutely beautiful Rum with 46% Alcohol volume. But it’s time to figure out what’s in the bottle...
Color: it’s pretty clean and light, about 4/10 to lighter. Reminds olive oil...
Nose: sweet, honey, fruitiness, touch of smoke and sulfur.
Palate: sweet in your mouth all over at start and becomes more intense and spicy to finish after it is swallowed... And yes, again this interesting sulfur notes. As well you find for sure fruitiness, more citrus, drop of honey and just a small oak notes.
This improves with a drop of water. Intense, flavourful and think in the tongue. You can definitely taste the bourbon and sherry cask influence. A fine choice for a cold winter’s night.
Didn’t think this rum was available in my area, stumbled upon one bottle on a shelf at the local store. Very nice rum, pretty good strength with a lingering burn, nice and sweet with not too much oak.
Great addition to my collection.
The first thing I noticed was the oak when I lifted the glass to my nose. I get a lot of chocolate on the front end and a nice warmth on the back end.
Absolutely without a doubt worth the price. I’m not a big fan of giving tasting note. It’s sips smooth and the aroma are just so complex and pleasant. I was lucky to get a taste of it at a rum bar in the BVI and now I screwed. I can’t find it anywhere near me.
This is a delicious example of perfection from blending. Like a good whiskey, they found ways to have so many flavored happen at so many points through the drink. Start to Finish it's wonderful.
It is light and fruity with notes of fortified wine.
"Gently, well balanced spice and oak mingle along nicely with just enough of the sweet fruits and sherry notes."

I am a big fan of Foursquare distillery but this is not a favourite of mine. Personally, i find it to taste quite astringent and not very rum-like in character. Perhaps i am just not a fan of rums made in sherry casks. I have definitely had worse but this one just didn't hit the right spot for me.
