First time I tried it, room temperature and neat, it was ok. But I have if you jigger it with ice and drink it straight up after it sets it is really quite good. Reminds me of Plantation 20 year. I would buy again.
Same owner as Plantation so most likely being shipped back to France, aged, and dosed. If that’s you’re thing, great. But you should know what you’re buying.
Smells like rotten bananas, really fruity when tasting. Not for me but I can see why people would like it.
It’s smooth and has that underlying plantation flavor but stops there. I’d rather pay more and get the Plantation XO.
Kaniche comes from the same French company that bottles Plantation rum (Ferrand). The packaging is great and the rum itself has a nice amber hue. It’s smooth and tasty, but I noticed the sweetness comes through even in a cocktail, so I would keep that in mind when mixing with other ingredients. Perfeccion doesn’t have a lot of depth, but it still tasted good and worth a try….
You are sitting in front of a crackling fire on Christmas Eve, it's quiet and everyone is asleep, and you are trying to decide which rum goes with the moment. This is that rum. Smooth as a gentle snowfall and with all of the flavors that you relate to the season. Cinamon and spices, but without the sweetness. I am not sure that it is a year around sipper, but it might be.
Vanilla and Jamaican funk on the nose. Serious funk. But man, is this smooth! It slithers across the pallet imparting vanilla, bananna, spice, oak and cinnamon in perfect balance. Thin but belies this with fullness and depth of flavor. Really nice in the middle. Warm and lingering finish that brings back the funk and leaves your tongue with clove, and oak notes too. Not sure about perfection, but damn nice for sure. Easy sipper. Full of flavor and just the right bite. Definitely one of my favorite Barbados rums. Very reasonably priced. In fact, a steal at $35. I give it an 8.5.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted November 18 2023 with Rogue Rum Club, thanks to the Cains travels
Appearance: rich amber
Aroma: this smells like an emery board to me.
Flavor: bandaids, white pepper, toffee.
This is a complex rum, and the flavors together remind me of a high quality rum poundcake.
