Don Q 2007 Signature Release Single Barrel

Dark aged color with intense wood notes. Great smell, you can also feel the notes of brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts hints in every taste, hard to find a rum this good for $48. Are there betters Rums? Yes, there are plenty, but not for this price. Therefore, globalizing all aspects, like value, flavor and smell for me is a 10.

I’ve been sitting in this bottle since the week of Christmas and am just cracking it open in August. I should have sooner!
Nose of smoked oak, very light esters. More oak, brown sugar and toffee. Bit of spice comes through with a hint of apple. Extremely light body for a rum of this age. Finish is extremely smooth and almost cooling. Little fruit and nuts and more of the smokey oak tannins coming through.
My first tasting of a Don Q rum and surely not my last. Grab a bottle while you can. This is with a doubt one of my new favorites. This is a fantastic spirit for rum or bourbon lovers.

Very similar to the 2005, more wood, more char, more spicy, more caramel...Yet, I find the 2005 more well rounded.

I'll be honest, I have a soft spot for Don Q. Don Q Gold is my base starting point (6) when rating rums since I consider it a nice, light, cheap inoffensive mixer. Anything I rate a 5 or below I probably wouldn't buy again. So I was kind of excited to try something aged from Don Q. This is a very nice tasty rum. Still pretty light on flavor and definitely has more characteristics but is still a bit one note.

This is an herby/herbal rum that is not too harsh. Notes indicate I think it would make a nice rum old fashioned.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 1/2/20. Pours an auburn color. Honey notes. Slight vanilla. Whimpers away. This is delicious and inexpensive.

Další zajímavý kousek od Don Q, nicméně 2009 zatím vede

Rum vznikl z vybraných zásob rodiny Sevallés. Destilován v roce 2007, stařen v sudech po bourbonu a v roce 2016 nalahvován. Jedná se tedy o 9letý rum. Jedná se o druhou ročníkovou edici.
Vyrobeno mělo být oficiálně 36 000 lahví (očíslovaných), ale podle některých fotek je číslo o několik tisíc vyšší.
Rum není doslazován, dochucován ani dobarvován.

Aroma: Jemná, plná vůně - med, vanilka, sušené ovoce (rozinky, banán)
Chuť: Neskutečně jemná - opět vanilka, lehce kouřová
Dozvuk: Jemné koření, vanilka, jakoby finiš po portském (rozinky)
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochután vzorek
Jako u ostatních kousků z Portorika hodnotím velmi kladně. U 2007 však chybí procenta, mít tak výraznější projev v chuti a dozvuku, byla by to pecka; přesně jako je tomu u Don Q 2007.

Good rum with a less pronounced body, but it's ok for the price.

Dřevitý rum s příchutí pomeranče a skořice. Zůstává po něm sucho v ústech a je v nich takový nevýrazný a ostřejší. Až po doušku vody cítím na jazyku pomeranče. Očekával jsem od něj více.
