Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Really nice but but there’s better out there. Not so much a sipper for me. Not overly flavourful
Quite good but not overwhelming. More like a cocktail rum (i.e. Dark n stormy) than a sipping one.
... unfortunately that is the best part. Way too heavy on the spices, especially clove which results on a taste that is bitter and strong on the alcohol. It may be better in some sort of mix, but I wouldn't know which one.
I’m a kid (I’m 45 but I can’t drink liquor strait) so I just mix. Kraken and A&W Creme Soda is my daily drink. I love the dark flavor and bite of this rum above all others.
Meget sød rom, med en behagelig smag. Mangler smag udover sukkeret.
Not bad, but the 94 proof has a harsh bite compared to the 80 proof, which is really smooth. Nice color. A little thin in body.
The Kraken is good to spike Rum & Cokes, but I still prefer the Appleton V/X overall (for an equivalent price).
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
