Barcelo Imperial Onyx

Dark color, Bourbon flawour. Taste of wood, vanilla, dry fruits, cherry.

This is good rum. Not sweet but has a sweet and sumptuous nose. Smooth but maintains that lovely bite. Some oak, pepper, clove and ligh vanilla almond notes. Thin mouth feel. Nice long lingering finish. Not as complex as the Imperial but quite different. I like both, but for the price you can't beat the original Imperial. Better on ice.

It's very good to mix. It costs more than the regular rum, but it is worth it.

Comparable with El Dorado 12. Great complex taste..

I love regular Barcelo Imperial, so I can't be disappointed with Onyx. It has very intense spicy aroma and in taste you can discover strong barrel flavour. I like him very much and because its elegant bottle it can be also suitable gift.

Worth searching for. This bottle is hard to find in the uk and I only managed to get a bottle in the Dominican Republic whilst on holiday. Really worth visiting the factory for the tour and bringing back a bottle or two. It’s not too sweet and easy sipping. When a block of ice starts to melt in it the volume of the alcohol comes down just enough to get a real sense of the complexity.

I can be all day long only smelling this rum, taste of vanilla and gentle oak spice.

Very nice rum with notes of caramel and hints of fruit. Not sharp at all, as should be expected with the low 38% alcohol, but still smooth and nice, but with limited complexity.

Good flavours. Smooth little spices but over all dominating cotton candy sweatness due to the bourbon barrel aging.

Vanilla smoky sweeter nose. Fruity (cherry plum) vanilla creamy not too sweet a bit caramelly oaky rich gentle body... longer vanilla sweetness in aftertaste... a surprise...
