The palette is sweet with butterscotch and nice test
OK sipping rum. Not too sweet although obviously colored with caramel. Resembles Motörhead very much. I would guess it's the same product, but the Onyx is $10 more, which makes it less priceworthy. Doesn't really love up to the exclusive look of the bottle. Another $10 will get you Zacapa which is in another class
Beautiful colours on this one. Tastes great, great on the nose too. Really good value, a must have for day to day sipping :)
Little to much alcohol taste but still good. Good value.
A lot of coffee, toffi and sugar cane. Marzipan, vanilla and roasted fruits too. Good for ladies, because of the 38% ABV.
Bought it for sipping but found it good for mixing. It tastes a bit strong but has a great smell. A good one but not as i’ve expected.
Got one as a present. Good looking bottle and great sipper
In the nose a lot of cherries, cherry leaves, cherries in chocolate, currant. Taste a lot of mold, barrel and cherry, also leaves and wood. A tan, tea finish. And cherries. Rum for cherry lovers.
This must be the better Barcelo Imperial, that was quite pleasant but also a little bit weak. This one has also only 38% abv. A little bit too weak, I would prefer 43%.
I get a lot of oak in the nose. There are some similarities to some woody rums like Mount Gay XO Triple Cask or Flor de Cana. Almost the same oaky nose with some orange peels. Some dry fuits, some grape seeds and vanilla are also in the nose.
The taste starts woody and a little bit sweet, not as light as Imperial. Not too bad for 38%. I get the orange peels, some paper, burned sugar and some grape seeds. The rum finishes with spice, wood and earthy barrel, dark dry fuits.
Enjoyable rum, not very complex, with more abv it could be better. Therefore 73 rating points.
I like the Barcelos in general because they are more mild in the finish. MG XO is more spicy and heavy in the taste.
