Navy Island XO Reserve 6-Year

I can't say, that Navy Island is disgusting or awful... But it isn't close to Appleton Estate rums. This one is good and tasty rum, but harsh and heavy. At the same time this rum has incredible scent.

Navy Island XO je blendem rumů z jamajských destilerií Worthy Park, Monymusk a Hampden.
Aroma: Krásná a intenzivní vůně nahnilých banánů, medu, třtiny a lepidla.
Chuť: Trpce medová, náznaky travnatosti a decentního okořenění.
Dozvuk: Záchvěv bylin a medu - a dozvuk je pryč. Velmi krátký a mdlý.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Vůně je parádní, chuť taková ucházející a velmi jemná, ale dozvuk je tristně plytký a krátký. Navy Island XO se velmi podobá Single Cane Estate WP, který je však celkově o něco lepší.
Pro začátečníky může tento rum být dobrým vstupem do světa jamajských rumů, ale pro zmlsance zvyklé na plnotučnější kousky toho kromě vůně moc nenabídne.

Nothing special to sip. Lighter bodied medium sweet. Harsher edge despite saying aged rums used. Now as a mixer it's a different story. That harsh edge with some cola now becomes something special. Skip the sip and grab the mix

Rumy zrají v tropickém klimatu v sudech, ve kterých byl předtím uložen bourbon. Navy Island XO má svůdné aroma jamajských rumů a vyváženou chuť s tóny vanilky, šťavnatého zralého ovoce (banánů, pečených jablek) a karamelu. Závěr je dlouhý, harmonický a příjemně suchý.

The rum has a pale golden colour. A strong oily sweet smell, heavy, very nice.
The taste is quite sweet, the body is rather light, cookies. A very nice one...

This Navy Island has a very nice golden color. At first smell I was like 'omg what a crap'. But I gave it a chance to develop its flavours. It needs to breathe and then you get the apple and pear notes with a light sweetness. Same procedure for the taste. Give this rum its time to develop its flavours and you won't be disappointed. Not my favourite but definitely a very interesting rum. Tip: add a few drops of water to it.
After tasting around, I found out, that for me, this rum is the perfect match for a Cuba libre. 10 out of 10
Therefore 6 in my final note.

Can taste nothing but alchoal, i bought it purely because i liked the bottle ,its one up from a $5 bottle at a discount store.

On the nose: sweet, fermented tropical fruits (banana, mango, pineapple), some spices (cinnamon), a hint of oak, some rubber.

On the palate: overripe fruits, sugar cane, spices, some oak with tannins, slightly bitter, some plum.

In the finish: some oak with dark chocolate and sugar cane, some bitter, tannins.

In der Nase: süß, vergorene tropische Früchte (Banane, Mango, Ananas), etwas Gewürze (Zimt), ein Hauch Eiche, etwas Gummi. Am Gaumen: überreife Früchte, Zuckerrohr, Gewürze, etwas Eiche mit Tanninen, leicht bitter, etwas Pflaume. Im Abgang: etwas Eiche mit dunkler Schokolade sowie Zuckerrohr, etwas bitter, Tannine.
