This rum smells and tastes a lot like alcohol, but I still like it, it's good for Cuba Libres.
To me this is one of those rums that's more like whiskey, and I'm not a whiskey fan. The alcohol taste is overpowering, so I don't taste much in the way of other flavors. It has a strong burn. It's not undrinkable, but if I'm going to enjoy a rum neat there are a hundred I'd choose over this. I'm not big on rum cocktails, so maybe that's a better use of this rum. I was pretty disappointed at nearly $20/bottle, as there are many tastier and more drinkable options. I can see others enjoying it, but this style of rum is just not my thing.
I never drink a spirit neat, always in a cocktail. But I'm here to say this rum makes an exquisite Daiquiri. So why nine bottles and not ten? I never tried one made with $80 rum, so I'll leave room for those who will.
En god inte så söt rom. Mycket smak ändå. God att sippa på.
Čistý agricole rum, žádný přidaný cukr či karamel. Je ostřejší a štiplavý, vůně dubového dřeva a karamelu. V chuti dub, tabákové listy a vanilka. Po polknutí dlouho hřeje jak na patře, tak i v hrdle. Za tu cenu bych ho nelitoval použít ani do míchaných nápojů.
I like this rum, not real smooth but nice robust flavor and makes a good Rum and Coke. Decent drinking compared to the 18 year which i was a bit disjointed with.
Natural tasting rum with a grassy Agricole-like base flavor and some mild aged flavors like vanilla and oak over the top. I do mean mild when I say mild. This has a little more bite than the 12 yr and maybe a little more flavor as well but it's still a light simple tasting rum without much sweetness or any particular flavor popping out at you. I can say that it tastes like rum and not a bourbon or sweet wine finish. Ok to sip and excellent mixer.Update: i had some again recently and the flavor is kind of blah to me at thia point, i taste predominantly charcoal and a bit of sweetness. Im now calling this the vodka of rums cuz thats what it tastes like.
It smells reasonably “boozy”. You still get notes of good oak ageing.
"The finish is overall quite bitter almost like dark chocolate."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I always love FdC 7 year, even more than the 12 year. Florals and oak. A little honey. Golden amber pour. A touch of tangerine on the finish.
