I like rums I can drink neat or on the rocks.

This one is not one I would recommend for this occasion. It is not smooth, is too sweet, and the flavor is not complex.

I like to drink rum after a pipe. This is my first sip, and either I does not mix well with the tobacco I chose for tonight, or it is not that good for any occasion. As of right now, I deem it mildly interesting and not one I plan to return to.

I may change my mind sometime later.

It certainly lives up to its name, having a floral flavor.

A rum that you feel in your chest, in a good way. Yes, young FdC do taste like nothing, it's known, but they only get better with age.

I've been calling it Flora de Cana this entire time. Nice rum, though.

Nice orange/golden color. Nose is warm smell with wood and caramel toffee. When I saw other reviews I was a bit scared to taste it. I don't get it when I read 'strong burn'. The bottle I have is so smooth, I don't have any burn. You have a warm taste of summer. Light but full. It has a caramel and woody taste with vanilla. It's a very good rum. Not Bold but more classy. For people who don't like too strong. This is a rum for you.

My fist sniff was so decedent my mouth started watering and I thought, “Wow, this is going to be good!” But immediately after the first sip the roughness grabs you. It is almost shocking.
As a rum and coke it is enjoyable. As a sipping rum, not for me.
Not bad but not as good as I expected.

6,2:The first nose releases some fairly dry alcoholic aromas. The wood is strongly toasted, releasing notes of well-roasted nuts, chocolate note. A pass of solvent loosens the vanilla from the wood, then reveals a fruity, sweet and tangy character. Caramel and vanilla are accompanied by a very ethereal white floral side. The rum needs time to open.
Time will wash away the alcohol notes and the rum will remain on dry notes of strongly toasted wood and roasted, ground nuts. The dry, vegetal notes evoke walnut blossom, while the woody notes lighten up a little.
6,5:On the palate, the contrast is quite astonishing, as the rum is now very sweet. Toasted wood and roasted nuts are balanced by this sweetness. Walnuts and hazelnuts are tinged with a burnt, almost tarry touch. The rum is then fluid and light, with hints of tobacco, coconut, red fruit.
6:On the finish, the rum dries out and hooks the taste buds, bringing walnut brou de noix to mind once again.

I purchased this rum because I learned that it contains no added sugar. So, I expected it to be less sweet than other sipping rums I've tried and this was indeed the result. However, I really enjoy its smooth, creamy feel on the tongue and it has very satisfying flavor without much burn. I haven't tried the Flor De Cana 18 year rum yet but I don't think I'll pay the extra money for that one since the 12 year is so enjoyable. So, I intend to keep this one on my bar as a good sipping rum. Also, I won't waste it by mixing in a cocktail but always sip with just a little ice.

As a 12 years old rum finnished in Bourbon casks: not tasty at all.
As a after work drink: a good one.

I enjoyed my bottle of Flor de Cana, I had heard of it, but never thought to try it until someone gave me a bottle as a present. I must admit, it tastes very palatable. You can smell a hint of whiskey from the barrels it has aged in, but not overpowering, it is easy to drink straight, but I preferred it with a splash of peppermint.
Definitely a rum I am happy to have in my cabinet.

I enjoyed the Flor de Caña 12 even better than the 18 when tasted side by side. The 12 is not a funky rum, but is full of delicate spice, wood, and vanilla caramel. Though somewhat sweet the dryness balances and keeps you wanting another sip.
