A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

If you are gonna drink Flor you need to start by this 12 years old aged, is definitely worth buying, real smooth and easy to drink, then move on to 18 and 25!!! fire stuff.
I found this rum very similar to the 18 years version, it is smooth and without any additional flavor. It is a very good rum to drink with ice or alone.
well, I tried it few days ago, it is good rum, very good, however it does not inspire me to write anything about it... it misses "soul" but I will give more tries to Flor de Cana collection
edit: after some more rums, i bought this one again, 7/10 still applies, i must say it is not that great sipper (but still enjoyable) , but it is a great refference rum to start your tasting with, bit dry with small afterburn, i call these "real" or "pirate" rums hahaha, no pretending, just good serious aged dark rum, definitely cant go wrong with this one, but not recommendable for sugar and sweets lovers
This is a very good sipper. It's a bit drier than the El Dorado 12-year-old that is my favourite.
I've come to appreciate flor de cana much more than in the past, they have single vintage bottling, so no blends, it provides a very smooth and clean taste. The 12 year old is very good, and the 18 year old even better. I've got the 25 year old on my wish list, I'll see how it compares to the other 25 year old I've tried.
this is definitely not a 12 years ron. for me this alcohol with some color..
The nose is a bit too closed for my liking. I like a good dose of fruit and oak, especially from a 12y along with a bit more weight, especially from its time in American oak. Having said that, I have just opened the bottle, so maybe it might open up a bit.
The body does display more oak and complexity and there is a good dollop of alcohol. It's not the smoothest but I like it. I like a rum that has a bit of umphh to it. It gives length to the rum and leaves a nice mouth feel. I suspect that if it had richer fruit, more depth and a touch more complexity, it could be a stunning rum if/when married to the alcohol.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."

I'd really like to give it closer to a 7.5 if I could. The 18 is significantly better in my opinion, but the 12 year is a great rum to ease into the sipping rum world. A little rougher around the edges than the 18, but I expect that with a lesser aged distill. Sweet, a bit of oak and a hint of spice. Can be drank neat, but i'd recommend letting it meld with some ice to soften it up just a smidge.
