Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

For 12YO rum I'd expect more smooth taste. Little to harsh for my palate.
I was at a rum tasting, so don't remember so much. Meh
The taste of alcohol is somehow dominant over other flavor.
Honestly, for a rum aged 12 years it is very harsh. At least the Jamaican rums have some flavor to compensate for the bite. This just burns with very little pay off.

Shot at bar.
Oak wood up front with slight hints of vanilla and caramel. A little too much oak for my taste
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."

The first time I bought this, I didn't really know what I was doing, but the bottle looked super cool and every mix was incredible. This might've been the rum that made me realize that stepping up from the bottom shelf really was worth it, opening me up to this entire world.
Got another bottle recently to try it as a sipper. It can be had for the equivalent of a little under $30 where I live. Lovely caramel color, has a balanced scent straight out of the bottle, doesn't need to open up too much. Has a bit of caramel taste to it, but without being super sweet (if that makes any sense), balanced with vanilla and what I think is oak.
Basically it just comes across as an honest, no extra sweeteners added rum that I hold up there amongst my favorites.
