Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.
Appleton Estate 21-year rum is produced in Jamaica on one of the country’s oldest and most renowned sugar estates. Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a signed aging certificate by master blender Joy Spence.

Well balanced from all points of view: not too sweet, not too heavy, not so expensive... I like the old leather taste in a beautiful collection of tastes.
I really looked forward to trying this 21 year old but was just a bit disappointed. Good nose and pleasant aftertaste but not what I had hoped for. I will have to try it again to see if I was wrong.
This is very good rum. Very smooth and harmonious.
For the age this rum has a sharp initial taste but rich and pleasant aftertaste making it worthy for a top shelf position.
It has the signature Appleton taste but quite smooth for sipping on the rocks.
Lots of amazing flavour. Was my favourite for years till I found El'Dorado 21.
I wish i had more to compare it to, but i don't think I've had anything near to it... the Flor De Caña 25 is a different beast entirely (smoother, but less complex, still much more sugar) and the Zacapa 23 is nowhere near this.
The other Appletons are fun to compare & contrast. we've only got the 8 year old at the moment, but it has a LOT more sugar still going on. The 12 feels like the midpoint (funny how that works; the Macallan 12 is what I point people to as the "exact middle of the flavor chart" for Scotches). This still has vestiges of the deeper/funkier pot still flavors, just relaxed a lot after the aging.
Definitely a special occasion sipper, and worth the money, just open it up with a touch of water.
On the nose there is ripe strawberry, honey, some funk, cherry, over-ripe orange and cotton candy (that last note was borrowed from t8ke).
The palate is pepper, oak, burnt sugar and honey.
The finish is fairly long with ginger, coffee, walnut, dark chocolate, almond, oak and a little dry.
Nice brown sugar and toffee notes with a nice creamy nuttiness underneath.
"Tropical notes of sweet fruits a little orange zest and some nice notes of tropical fruit. It burns slightly on the finish which is very long and satisfying. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It's a very nice rum and one of my favourites. It has a golden brown colour and it taste strong but nice in mouth. I like it.
