Appleton Estate 21-Year rum

Appleton Estate 21-Year

Jamaica | Aged

Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.

Nice tropical notes with some toffy and orange flavour. Lightly sweet but very subtle and delicate finish. Not my style of rum to splurge 140 euros on, to delicate for my taste as I enjoy more of an explosion of flavour. Proper rum if you enjoy the appleton 12 and want to step up for a special occasion.

Good and quite pleasant rum with a palette of flavors. It is definitely obvious that the youngest rum is 21 years old, there is a lot of oak, chocolate and vanilla.

This is an enormous upgrade over the 12 year (that I rated a 5). It still has a relatively weak nose given its age - a certain hollowness alongside a crisp caramel note - but the finish is fantastic, with the full 21 years coming through in the oaky spice and a lingering and complex (for rum) fade.

oaky funky Jamaican rum ! smooth and dry, this is an English style rum that i like !
even if i m not a big fan of English style rums ! it s better than the 15 YO but it s not a 10 for my taste ... also is expensive plus lacks that typical Jamaican funk so my final rating is 8 !

I don't have all the experience in the world rating booze, but this rum is my go to rum for either a stellar day or the world is ending type of day. I find it a very soul-satisfying on the rocks rum and either highlights the day or provides a glint of light in an abysmal day. Not for every day sipping.

This hits with some great carmel oakey flavor. If the alcohol would be slightly less noticeable this would be a 10.

It's both sweet and dry with no burn or bite...AT ALL. It was as easy to drink as water! By the way, I have NEVER claimed that before, as so many people often do. It's flavorful and complex without any of the negatives that usually follow (again, no burn or bite and no medicinal or fuel hints whatsoever.) In fact, I purchased metal rocks cubes just so I wouldn't dilute this with ice. I offered a good friend of mine a glass of this thinking he liked rum as he stated he did. What he likes is SPICED rum. After he confessed that, I seriously wanted to pump it from his mouth! Aside from my wife, no one but I (and my boss, if given the chance) will ever drink from that bottle again...EVER! That may sound harsh but I quickly learned that people don't always realize how good something is and until they do, they need to stay THE HELL AWAY from my Appleton 21 Year!

Seriously, THIS...IS THE GOOD STUFF! It smells like heaven and tastes even better! I could tell you what I smelled and tasted but people's palates and nostrils aren't always the same (making that information very subjective) which is why I keep it to smoothness, bite, sweetness/dryness, overall complexity/flavorfulness and overall smell and quality because those aspects are fairly universally agreed upon. So, when I say no burn or bite, YOU KNOW I mean it (because that's the main aspect of my grading rubric)!

This is the best bottle of rum that I ever drank and though it's pricey, it's WELL worth your money! In fact, because of how expensive it is, I actually split the bottle with my boss (price and contents) and although I wouldn't want to take that experience away from him (he's a good guy a GENUINE rummy and in a perfect world, we BOTH would be able to come away with our own bottle as we have both fought our way for years through the crap to get to the good shit!) My point is that I REALLY wish I could have had a whole bottle to myself, which is why I am vacationing in Jamaica with my wife next year and buying a full one from the Estate along with another great Appleton offering (likely the 30 Year or the Joy...or maybe just two 21's.)

Yeah, it's that good! I have no idea why this product isn't rated higher and frankly, I don't care! I would buy four bottles tomorrow (and I'm not rich) if my state hadn't closed it out. My boss and I split the last bottle in the state and as I enjoyed my first mouthful, I already began to miss it, knowing it was finite. As a person who has had to suffer through a SEA of bad booze, trust me, BUY IT ON SIGHT, you won't be disappointed! You can thank me later but don't let it slip away! I'm warning you!

Nice but expensive.
Smooth and warm. But at £12 a shot, hard to justify.
