El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Very different from 12 years.
Spicy, oak, dark chocolate, sherry and more dry than 12 years old.
I tried the 43% ABV version.
Call me crazy, but I think the 12 years old more pleasant, but it is undeniable that this 15 years old has a lot of quality.
Better than the 12 but not touching the 21. Demeraras are my favorite rums and this one is always in the cabinet.
Has to be on a wishlist. This is sooo good. A top 10.
Very sweet, heavy bourbon and oak notes. Overaged in my taste, and definitely dozed heavily. Vanilla sweetness and heavy oak flavors. Not worth the cost, but a fine rum for what it is
Out of all the El Dorado rhums I have tried. This one tops them all. Sweet, yet spicy. Well balanced. I love it on ice. But... Kirk and Sweeney 18 years.... that one... bit more pricey though
Being a fan of the 12yr ED, I was happy to try this one as well. A nice blended demerara rum with raisin-ish overtones. Great for sipping neat.
I like this style of rum, very dark and sweet like molasses.
We have just began to explore the world of rum but this was a great starting point!
A little bit hard at the beginning, you feel how it beats your throat, very colorful taste, light nice aftertaste.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

My favorite rum in this price point - complex nose with vanilla, cinnamon and an occasional clove, balanced flavors on the tongue with a brown sugar lead. sweet but not overly so. enjoyable in the fall and winter - sometimes have to bury the bottle during the summer to avoid it ending up in a daiquiri (which is delicious, but seems a shame to mix with it).
