El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

This is the best rum i have ever tried. Compared to the 12y this one has more complexity and flavour. It is more dry with a hint of bitternes that balances the sweetness wonderfully.
I can see how some like the 12 more but i prefer the 15. I would recomend this rum to anyone who wants a little more complexity and is ready for that extra dryness. Since they started adding less sugar i think this rum has gotten even better. At the moment its my all time favorite rum.
Tried it side by side with the 12 year. It is a bit smoother and complex than the 12 when sipping. Probably wouldn't use this in a cocktail.
Beautiful carribean style bottle.
Nice nose. Of Caramel, spiced appe pie, vanilla.
Great thick oily palate. Vanilla caramel, allspice and a silky finish with lingering warm spices.
This is really good rum to either mix with cola or sip it. The price is why i rated it an 8 and not a 10. I try to look at all the aspects of the rum when i rate them
I found this one quite harsh, with a strong bite of alcohol. Not the kind of rum I like.
Fabulous 15-year representation with just the right balance of classic rum sweetness with long smooth finish. Love the bottle presentation. Easily worth the price premium over the 12yr (which I rated 7/10) but don't sleep on its 5yr old baby brother! Currently eyeing a bottle of the El Dorado 21-year to splurge or celebrate a special occasion.
This is not my preferred rum. It starts good with flavour but after just a second or two it gives me much to much hair on my chest. Im finding my sweet spot when it comes to rum somewhere in the middle between this and Diplomatico reserva exclusiva.
Great rum. It does not have anything that would distract you. Definitely enjoyed this one.
Well i love this rum. nice bottle and a nice label, but to be honest it tastes the same as the 8 and the 12 year olds. Still an excellent rum and im glad that i bought it but
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Well this is a classic for a reason. Smelling it is just a punch in the face with sweet raisins. Tasting it, I just want to describe it as very very rummy. I know that’s a bad description but it’s just a nice deep flavour that has a bit of bite that soon recedes. It just seems nicely balanced to me without anything smacking you in the mouth too much. I use this when a cocktail calls for Demerara rum and I want to add a bit of class to it. It’s really tasty.
