El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Love the El Dorado rums. Smooth rum and very tasty. The 21 year old is typically twice the price but Iβd have to think about whether itβs worth two bottles of the 15.
Smells of paint thinner. Much too strong on the nose. The aroma does revela distinctive fruit flavors such as cherry, orange, and banana.
Sipping it neat was not pleasant. The initial flavor follows the same fruity notes that are in the nose, however the banana comes in strong for me throat the middle.
As this rum goes does it leaves a distinct burn that some might enjoy. I however am not a fan of this particular burn.
Much more plaetteable on the rocks.
Much better rums at this price.
After enjoying this mighty fine rum ....I noticed , that the younger brother of this , the 12 year old .....was MUCH more flavourful !..
Smooth and neat rum with rastes of vanilla and honey.
Something that is needed at home
Nice, dark amber color.
Nose: honey, dried fruit, orange peel, some chocolate
Taste: a bit spicy in the beginning, then orange peel, dried fruit, chocolate and honey.
Nice rhum to sip.
I still never tried El Dorado 12 but I really doubt it can be better than this one. If this one has no alcohol I could drink it a whole day, like water hahaha.... el dorado is the best, hands down ;) Nice dark chocolate taste, warming and strong aftertaste, rich, complex, not so oaky, slightly fruity, seems so refreshing. Tasty π
This rum is a perfect sipper- I love it! Very smooth. On the rocks of course. I still prefer the 12 year more.
After the 12 I was curious to try the 15. Yes, it's a little step up, more complex, more serious.
The color is dark. I detect a smell of varnish (not unpleasant), then caramel and dates. The taste is sweet (but not too much) with hints of caramel, vanilla, dried and candied fruit (dates, figs, raisins). I would rate the 12 at 7.5 and this one at 8. But if you want a good affordable rum you can't go wrong with the 12.
Not exactly in my wheelhouse. I will say that if this rum's flavor profile suits you you will love it and fairly priced. For me, didn't hit me in the way the DIplimatico and, especially the Plantation XO 20 year did. Just not the depth of flavor and nuance. Again, minus a lot of cheaper options, the EL Dorado would serve me fine with no complaints. Just doesn't stack up in the price range to me
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
