El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

EN: a sweet rum with a taste like a caramel and vanilla fruit salad but with a slightly higher alcohol concentration compared to the 12-year-old to counterbalance the sweetness. some spices and an aftertaste of burnt sugar.
apart from the higher alcohol, I don't find any qualities above the 12 year old that I prefer
Аромат - коричневий цукор, легкий дим, трохи тропічного ананасу.
Смак - тросниковий цукор, персик, абрикос.
Фініш - солодкий, фруктовий, трохи дубу.
I just recently got into rums, but I got a recommendation to try El Dorado since I was a fan of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. This is by far, my favorite I've tried out of everything. It is incredibly smooth and easy to drink, very little alcohol burn and very sweet. I know the sweetness will put some people off, but if you do enjoy sweeter rums, this is a must try.
This rum was a gift from my daughter. Very nice sipper neat. My bottle looks a little different.
The taste is too sweet for me. I found the 12 years ols one more balanced. The 15 years old is also a good rum, but not my kind.
apparently this rum has undergone a formula adjustment and the older reviews are for a product with more added sugar (which I may have actually liked better but never tasted). With less sugar, this has a slightly bitter taste to it which I have been informed is due to the old stills that are used in its production. At first I was put off by the bitterness, but over the course of finishing off the bottle slowly I got more accustomed to it. This seems to be a very highly regarded rum, but to me it wasn't anything special, so I wonder if its high regards were based on the older formula that was more sweet.
This is about as good as it can get at this price point.
Nice smell of honey and caramel with tone of fruit, taste is great, full and smooth, fruit and sugar, really good end. 8/10
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."

7:The nose is largely roasted, so much so that you can almost guess the powdery side of coffee grounds. The rum's core is relatively light, as evidenced by the fruit candy notes that begin to pass between the toasted oak fibers.
With aeration, the profile remains relatively taut, with ethereal flights that seem to clean the surface of the barrel. They carry with them notes of varnish, toasted wood and flame-roasted nuts.
7,5:On the palate, the first impression is of a rather fluid attack. It's like a rum with a toasty woodiness and a slightly diluted maple syrup. The mid-palate then takes us to the heart of the Demerara style, albeit with a great deal of restraint. Toasted, caramelized nuts, ripe exotic fruit, sweet spices and a slightly mineral, powdery edge are all present, again with nuances.
7,5:The finish is slightly sweet, gently spicy, with the rum fading rather quickly from the palate.
Run with a bit lack of smoothiness and roundedness. Otherwise everyday sipper. Nice, but not top.Nose 7, a bit repressed, on palate 7,5, it opens, but it is more agressive than 12 y which is more elegant, 7,5 on finish.
