El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

JA
had this rum recently

Guyana | Aged | 43% ABV

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.

The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

This is a very nice sipping rum. I especially like the flavor and hint of smoke from the barrel. A definite to share and this is the rum I gift to friends for milestones. Very good rum and affordable.

This one is balanced. Just the right amount of sweetness and smooth as all hell. Great rum.

Equilibrato, aromatico, dolcezza tipica della Guyana, adatto come battesimo a chi è alle prime armi, rapporto qualità/prezzo molto positivo

Rum #6 of 7 at Laka Lono rum club tasting 6/30/21
I feel some distress that I enjoyed the 12 year more than the 15 year, but perhaps with rums the extra three years of aging does not add flavors I enjoy.
Aroma: salted caramel?
Flavor: some stress that while delicious, the 12 year is my favorite.

ohhhh yeaaaaa! It's a bit heavy, and a single ice cube really frees this up and makes for a great evening of sipping!

Very pleasant taste, not too sweet. Lacks a bit of depth but if you want more older El Dorado has older and more complex rums. The 15 yo should be considered as a second step for those who consider Don Papa, Zacapa 23 or Diplomatico SR as good sipping rums.

Great rum from one of the best molasses distillery in the world: Demerara distillers. None of the molasses distillery has such a large panel of stills. And this is reflected in the complexity of El Dorado rums.

This Special Reserve 15 Years is one of my favourite "English" style blend. The structure is perfect for this rich and complex rum with a greath length.

A must try for every heavy rum enthusiast!

Of course deeper and more complex than 12-year brother a little bit disappointed me because 12 year brother was more pleasant. I can fully enjoy it only after letting it breath for 15-20 minutes and then taste became smooth and delicate. On the one position with Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva for me.
So, taste - very roasted coffee, dark chocolate, quite a lot of smoke, leather and notes of prunes. Aftertaste is burning and medium.
My thought is the following - it would be better to make it of 40 ABV or even 37.5 ABV.
