Super goรปt doux et fruitรฉ mais je doute que tout soit naturel dans cette bouteille
I come from a bourbon background, so I'm not used to sipping libations with added sugar.
Having said that, this one is delicious. If it had any more sugar it would be a liqueur. But as it stands, the sugar enhances the toasted vanilla flavor of the barrels in which it is aged and gives it a round, creamy mouthfeel that it wouldn't have otherwise. Think something like a whiskey sour without the acid bite of the lemon. You probably won't want more than a finger or two at a time, and you'll most likely want it to end out your evening rather than to begin it.
I've tried to use it as a component of tiki drinks that should benefit from more complex rum flavors such as mai tais and zombies, but the more subtle characteristics of the rum that make it a good sipper just get lost in the other flavors. This one is best enjoyed on its own.
Rich dark color. Wonderful nose of sweet caramel, spices, and chocolate (does not come off as a chocolate rum) I like a good Rum or Bourbon and Coke. I have some very nice Bourbons, and some recommended mid-priced rums that are fine enough for me to see where someone could enjoy drinking them neat. However, they were never something that would bring me to say, " yea, give me one of those " The Exclusiva changed that in a heartbeat. It's too smooth to break through the sweetness of a Coke so it's definitely not for a Rum and Coke, but it's wonderful on its own. By the way it's younger brother Diplomatico Mantuano is great with Coke, as well as a fine sipper in its own rights. Fortunately or unfortunately it has now brought me into the world of the quest for fine rums. Where I'm located, Exclusiva $35, Mantuano $25
Einfach lecker!
This rum is very bigged up and that made me extremely curious as to whether or not it was really that good or just overrated. But I enjoyed this rum alot, some will probably find it abit too sweet. But its has an enjoyable smoothness to it that makes it go down so easy. A really nice (popular) rum that wont let you down if you are stuck for something to buy and would feel safer getting a big brand rum, get this one.
Sweet and smooth at first with some spice on the finish. Predominant flavors is maple syrup and caramel. Possibly the sweetest rum i have had. All the expected flavors are there: vanilla, oak, caramel, but the sweetness dominats the aftertaste. Somewhat reminds me of Pillar 23.
I held off on this one for a while because some said it was different & more of a desert rum. I agree. It's very tasty, I could see it being used with desert. Lots of flavor, a little thicker. You won't be disappointed. You would probably have one of these on the rocks mixed in with your other rums throughout the night just to have something different. I'm glad I finally tried it
I do not know why is this rum so popular. It is not bad, but I think it is just bit about the average. Anyway, If someone would drink this with me I will have no problem.
Nice Rum. Always a pleasure. For the money i prefer el dorado 12y or plantation 5y. But you can't do anything wrong with diplo. In germany they call it "Butucal" ๐
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crรจme. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Enjoyable sipping rum with full mouth feel and the perfect pinch of sweet. Didn't enjoy as much with an ice cube, just needs 5 min to breath. Gave an extra point for price and availability at $35 in the states.
