Bought a bottle by mistake (was after the sliced version) but was not disappointed by this.
Nice easy smooth drink. I had it neat and its not harsh at all.
Had high hopes for this one, but flavours did not do it for me neat.
Sampled this gold rum at Cardiff Rum Festival.
Similar to the tiki fire with lime and vanilla and a touch of spicy, very sweet.
N- As often higher abv improved but not with this one, cloudy and fiery notes masked the rest. (12/25)
P- Vanilla with sour tinge, oily medicinal sweet with huge acetone nuance, industrial and volatile. (10/25)
F- Rather harmful raw spirit driven, burning spicy with prickly oak, fiery, raw. (10/25)
Balanced- Managed to have 2 sips. Diluted with ice will drawn out the grumpy vanilla again. (10/25)
Weighted Rate:- 42pt

Like Christmas in a bottle. No after taste. Very smooth
A strong 6 in my opinion- I’m a fan of the smooth vanilla flavours with this one.
Created to be similar to Sailor Jerry's original recipe but as I haven't tasted that one can't say if they succeeded. Heavy on the vanilla. Overall target market is the Rum is Fun which they are doing very well in. I'm sure some will like this as a base in some concoction.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The smell of Admiral’s Old J Gold is so devine that it literally makes my taste buds tingle. Drank neat, this rum is delightfully sweet, with very little alcohol burn, thanks to the fact that the vanilla is neither ‘thin’ nor overbearing, but pretty close to perfection. This means two things for Old J Gold. A) It doesn’t become sickly after only two or three glasses. And B) It’s incredibly easy to drink neat. If however you do want to drink this with Coca-Cola, you’ll find that the coke makes this rum even smoother and accentuates the vanilla without stimulating the Persian Lime. Now for some, that may come as a disappointment, but not for me. I’ve had Admiral’s Old J Silver and in that rum, there is a definite distinction between the sweetness from the vanilla on the palate, and the sharpness from the lime in the aftertaste, something which I wasn’t too keen on. So, not being able to detect the lime in this rum is very much a good thing as far as I’m concerned.
