Old J Spiced

Easily one of my favourite rums! Smooth & strong vanilla cut through with an undertone of lime! Easy drinking over ice of with cola!

This rum is meant for mixing and not to be sipped. Good for a rum and cola.

I absolutely love this. For me it’s Utopia in a bottle, because it’s so deliciously sweet. Some may argue too sweet, but not for me. I say the sweeter the better! Because of the vanilla, the smell of this rum alone is worth the £18 that I paid for it. And at only 35% VOL, neat with ice, this rum glides down the throat with silky smoothness and more importantly, without the burning sensation that sometimes follows with other rums. For me however, I love this rum even more with Coca-Cola as a mixer, because then the vanilla flavouring, intensifies, making this rum even more of a sugary delight.

Tried neat at rum festival, vanilla tasting, prob mix with coke the next time.

Thoughts: A not-normal spiced rum. Arctifically added but the lime and vanilla provide a new experience. The mouth has an initial tang of toffee before the lime kicks in and then that is overtaken by a hot chilli spiciness. Downside is that all this excitement doesn't last very long and before we knew it we were reaching for another sip to write this review. We'd be surprised if this won a proper rum award but taking it for what it is, we think it's an enjoyable drink very easy to recommend.

Amazing taste with or without mixer. Smooth and so easy to drink

It smells much nicer than it tastes, it has a very strong artificial taste that I struggled to identify but have tasted in other flavoured spirits before. Would probably be okay in a mixed drink but on its own it was barely drinkable, cannot recommend.

Definable spiced offering. Very sweet so won't appeal to non-spiced addicts
