Old J Spiced rum is made from British Virgin Islands pot stilled rum that is blended with spices, vanilla and lime. The Old J rum company was founded in honor of Admiral Edward Vernon, who in 1740 enforced a reduction in the strength of the British Navyβs rum ration and suggested using limes and sugar to make the drink more enjoyable.

Interesting spiced spirit, but not really a rum at all. I mean, technically it isn't a rum anyway, as the manufacturers themselves state (its ABV is under 37.5% so it apparently doesn't qualify as being a "rum"). But anyway, it just tastes like a very sweet spirit, with some interesting vanilla and spices, but the toffee flavour is so overpowering.
My favourite rum of all time. Can drink neat as so smooth.
Really tasty gold spiced rum with beautiful notes of Persian lime and vanilla.. for mixing and cocktail it just works so well it's become what I reach for in that category
This is very sweet! It's also cheap so it's a good first timers rum. U could drink it on its own but for me a little too sweet and overpowering on the vanilla
Ok rum easy to drink
Vanilla is way too overpowering and not at all subtle and that's coming from someone who enjoys the vanilla taste of rums. Even when mixed with coke this problem isn't masked.
Lovely rum, nice smooth vanilla smell and taste. Can definitely taste the Persian limes. Smashing.
Until going to Cornwall, I've never heard of the Old J brand, so it was a must try. Not disappointed, and tried a few of their others, and actually bought a bottle of the Tiki Fire.
This is a really nice spiced rum, and could well be my next purchase. Recommend this one π
I bought this thinking it was the straight old j variety. Boy what a really pleasant surprise. Smoother than it has any right to be on its own for an inexpensive blend. then, mixed with coke for a great mix. Easy on the palate with the taste of the lime and vanilla coming through straight away. Love the long toffee aftertaste too. At 35% it works well poured generously too.I shared the bottle with myself in a single weekend and didn't feel any regret until I realised I wouldn't have another bottle for a while. Now looming forwards to that time. Dec recommend.
A very sweet smell of vanilla and sugar. .
"It is liqueur like. As a sipper it offers wathes of sugar, vanilla and cinnamon."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Mainly vanilla and some spices (which I can't really distinguish). Overall target market is the Rum is Fun which they are doing very well in.
