Similar to Plantation XO but more sweet and less complex. Aftertaste is short and sugar cover most of taste... But price is low.

I really love this stuff! Super balanced, not a lot of the bright flavors you get from a less-aged rum. Lots of vanilla from the barrel aging.

Tasted on 11-18-23 thanks to Admiral Bill who purchased it in Miami. Almost a light brown color it is so dark gold. Classic sea salt and saccharine aroma. Sugary stick candy sweetness up front. Maple and mint. Even more candy sweetness after a few drops.

Tasted during Rogue Rum Club, thanks to the Cains travels November 18 2023
Appearance: dark amber
Aroma: plum pudding
Flavor: tobacco, pound cake, vanilla, butterscotch
This might be a dessert rum, with a lasting sweetness that has a depth of flavor.

Great for sipping or mixing an Old Fashioned. Too bad I can't purchase this in my home state of PA!

When I first opened the bottle it seemed to taste a bit thin, but then after it was open for a few weeks its flavor seemed to get less thin, and I liked it better. It has the typical Spanish solera flavor profile like Zacapa 23, etc. but for $35 its an excellent value. The staff at Total Wine strongly recommend this rum, and I can't say they're wrong, but I probably won't buy it again. Its good, but not great, and I've become bored with this particular flavor profile for the time being. I'd like to give it a 7.5 rating, but given that I have to choose between 7 and 8 I'd have to go with the 7 for now.

It’s okay for sipping but has a flavor I’m unsure of, would not buy again.

The distiller is known for not being completely forthcoming with their rums and their age statements and added sugar. However, I found this one not too bad for drinking neat and pretty decent as a mixer.

Is there alcohol in this bottle!? This may be the smoothest rum I've had yet. Maple syrup, carmel, honey, and oak flavors followed by a calm warming finish. I was going to rate an 8, but yet again, the sweetness gets to me. 7

I agree with another reviewer who compares this with Plantation...it's similar to their Grande Reserve 5yr with a bit more depth. To me that's not a bad thing and although it's a bit sweet, I don't consider it a "sugar bomb." It's a flavorful Barbados rum, not exceptional but quite drinkable. However at $57 out the door for 750ml, I'll be sticking with Doorly's XO for now.
