Nose: I already know the scent from Nanny of the Maroons.
This is a mud made from quince, pear, pumpkin and a little lime. His youth can be seen through the lime. After about 30 minutes, fresh wood with orange zest appears, sweet honey notes are also present in the combination.
It stings a bit in the nose, I can easily feel the acidity, but otherwise no barrel aromas.
Taste: Starts rather mildly with sweet quince, orange zest and light bitter notes like lime peel. Rapidly increases in sharpness, tingles on the tongue and lets the quince rise through the roof. Pear is added and lasts forever into the aftertaste. Bitter substances are present, although I don't know whether they come from wood, they have a metallic effect on me. The mouth dries up and the tongue is piqued by the sharpness. I have the impression that I can taste some wood.
This is a really long finish that lingers for minutes. Quince is the dominant aroma.
Aftertaste: quince, pear, banana, orange zest
Conclusion: This is a very spicy rum with a lot of fruit. At first I didn't find it exciting, but when the orange zest was added after 30 minutes, my mind changed.
For me this is a very good rum that offers a new taste experience and yet with its 4 years of age it has enough complexity.
It still has potential, I think at the age of 10y it would be a much better rum. The spiciness could be reduced and the orange zest could gain more influence and bring in even more wood varnish.

Estery, trocha hřejivého dřeva, ovoce, hruška, bylinky. Krásně komplexní, nic nevyčnívá, vše v rovnováze.
I tried several Mhobas before, I really liked the nose and aftertaste of Strand and French cask, but the body was just to rough for me. I hoped that some aging would help and this rum brings the answer: it does! So it has the fruity nose with dominating bananas and a little chocolate, the taste perfectly follows the nose, it is smooth considering the high alcohol content, and I enjoy the long finish full of bananas so much.

Awaited, and doesn't fail the expectations ! Get it if you can. Wonderful aromas even if less "truffle-bomb" than the fantastic Strand 101.
