This strong "Chocolate Death" is a prime example of rum great to experience but less to drink regularly or heavily. You can get drunk pretty fast and the strong chocolate tones, unlike its sweety orange brother, are not that awesome for me. I still plan to keep that material in my shelf regularly as it is likely to last her longer period of time. Not an awesome taste rum for me but colorful experience - and I like it that way! (My best friend hates this rum.)
Update: will be remembered forever as one of the first "normal" rums I "liked". But now I rate it as little bit overcome and the chocolate bedrock both strongly present in the nose and in the taste is not super pleasing and perhaps lil' too sweet (for someone).
Best neat sipping rum - chocolate without being sweet. Rarely mix this one.
The moment you take a long hard lingering smell of Compañero, it immediately transports you to a chocolate utopia, the aroma is that sublime. The chocolate experience continues in the taste as well as the smell, because drank neat your taste buds are treated to a ton of chocolate notes, making this rum simply delicious. And if all that isn’t enough for you, then the chocolate goodness continues long into the after taste as well. As for the alcohol burn, well that’s pretty much minimal. In Compañero you get a drink that glides down your throat with silky smoothness, making it very enjoyable, either as a sipping rum, or a long drink. Me personally, I prefer it mixed with Coca-Cola, because at 54% VOL, it’s too potent for my liking. Which is a real shame, because had it been closer to 40% VOL, then I’m absolutely positive I’d be describing Compañero Panama as neigh on perfect.
Wow, haha, I am totally stunned. I did not expect this. Nose and taste is filled with chocolate and mint. Chocolate and mint is all I get. It’s like drinking a chocolate mint (after eight) desert. Really don’t know what to say. I got surprised but don’t know if I actually like this or not. Anyway, there is a first time for everything.
Loverly chocolate taste, really smooth and great with Companero orange.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A strong smell of milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel, very nice. The taste has also a lot of chocolate, spicy and a little bit sharp. A nice choco Rum.
