Mount Gay Black Barrel

Just happened to try this and was pleasantly surprised go to mix and reasonably smooth

Love the fruit nose and aftertaste...unique bottle

I understand why some people would enjoy this rum. However, i'm not a big fan of bourbon and that is taste that comes through. It's quite harsh and smoky which are not flavours i enjoy in a rum.

Very bold offering with the bourbon barrel aging process. Not sweet and very subtle complimentary notes.

A bit smokey vanilla flavor a kind of whiskey style but still rum kind of drink. I can drink it by itself. Not very sweet and just hints of vanila and smoke

Enjoyed a bottle of this rum while sailing in Croatia and that is exactly the opportunity which this rum is excellent for. Not as smooth and cultivated as Mount Gay XO, but still very enjoyable woody taste typical for British type of rum. I am not sure if I enjoyed drinking this rum at home as much as in the Mediterranean Sea. Recommendable to brandy and cognac lovers. 75%

I found this rum at a very good 20% discount and bought it to compare with the Mount Guy Eclipse rum. It was a very pleasant surprise and it becomes definitely one of my favourite rums. I am a rum fan and can say this one stands out. This batch has a lot of rich classy flavours and character which I like to enjoy neat. I don't want to mix it because I don't like miss any part of the feeling. Very good quality room, at least two levels above the mainstream rums.

Nicely drinkable rum with strong notes of charred barrels. Stronger taste than most rums. Still one of my favorites
