Itโ€™s a great rum, but it does deviate from most Barbados rums in that the sweetness level is pretty low. Lots of depth, but it is a little too alcohol-forward I think, making the molasses and vanilla recede too far into the background. Not a rum for cocktails and certainly not a terrific value. A great rum but overrated.

This Detente absolutely fits for purpose from my point of view, The taste is truly heavy. Slightly pungent on the tongue, warms up in the belly after swallowing. I could smell distinctive wood together with bourbon. After a moment in the mouth, vanilla with a slightly sharper aroma of tobacco makes itself known. At the end, I smell dried fruit and a decent cocoa trail. The end is beautifully long, you enjoy it. It is also quite pronounced, but rather dry. Rum contains 60% alcohol and is without added artificial additives. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Absolutely blown away. Anise, dark caramel, cherries, some subtle wood smoke, burnt sugar, chinese five spice? There's an umami quality to it like hoisin sauce, which reminds me of Kavalan's whiskies. These are all held together by the high ABV giving it a viscous body, almost like the sensation you get when chocolate melts in your mouth.

First of all, it is free of added sugar, dyes and flavors. Despite this, it is dark, very pleasantly sweet and rich in aroma. The unique smell of wood. You can feel very high quality in it. Despite its 60% alcohol content, it is perfect for drinking at room temperature, without ice and without any additives. Only then will you appreciate all its advantages. The best one I have in my collection.

ok so there is some hype in the rum world surrounding this distillery so I don't want to fuel the fire unnecessarily. But unadulterated rum at high abv is always good right.
An "exceptional" rum - bright and fruity - intense dried apricot turning slowly to burnt brown sugar long sweet finish.
Not that complex to deserve a 9 from me but what it does .. it does exceptionally well.
So the "Exceptional cask selection" name is justified and what is there not to like.
At around 65EUR a definite recommendation .. okay would go to 75 :)

Very nice, would definitely buy again. Foursquare is just good rum by far one of my favorites.

Just when I was thinking maybe rum isn't the spirit for me, this beauty crossed my path. Deep, complex, tasty and without additives. Truly a rum for whisky drinkers.

The rum is very smooth, but at 60% you need to sip slowly to thoroughly enjoy.
While itโ€™s not my best, it isnโ€™t very far from being there. I want to experiment with adding some water to lower the ABV and see if the palette improves.
